eg. Bins for General wastes, recyclable materials and organic food wastes. Incentives in the form of cash back or coupons should be initiated to motivate recycling. Guidelines to waste: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle should be favoured. Recycling centres should be introduced across Nagaland.

Sustainable development is a necessity. RECYCLING: It has become a moral responsibility for people to recycle since natural resources are limited. With rapid urbanization, more and more cities are getting polluted and recycling programs are one of the most popular environment initiatives across western countries. Universities and schools in Nagaland should act as a prime example in leading the practice of recycling. Different waste bins should be provided in schools/colleges.

1. Indoor stadium(Badminton, T.T etc.) in every ward. Citizens of all age group needs to be engaged in activities like indoor games which will them physically fit and divert attention from non-productive activities. 2. Revival of streams passing through the different parts of the city and strictly enforce and regulate for non dumping of waste of any kinds. 3.Green parks or gardens/open spaces/picnic spots/botanical gardens with proper landscaping designs and ample space for parking.

6. Shift Local ground to outskirts as it creates traffic congestion during any event . 7. Efficient water supply system. Compulsory rain water harvesting 8. Integrated underground sewer system for the city wherever topographically feasible 9. Government should henceforth construct Govt. Quarters as apartment buildings instead of bungalows and use the saved space for parks etc.

3. An efficient Transport system- more buses, better buses, higher frequency of trips, longer working hours - will reduce pollution, traffic, discourage use of private cars, benefit the economy, reduce dependence on taxis. 4. Four lane road from Minister Hill/AG area to Secretariat. Present bypass from naga bazaar to extend till High School junction for secretariat traffic. 5. Open space in every locality for children’s parks, green areas, sports stadiums, dog parks etc.

The most basic facilites are missing in Kohima, let alone any hi-tech interventions... a few suggestions: 1. Building bye laws need to be implemented strictly. Fixed setbacks between buildings for air, light, privacy, spread of accidental fires etc. 2. Building heights should be restricted- to say, ground +3 storeys, with Kohima being in Seismic Zone V, & unregulated building construction activities.

1. For Kohima to be a Smart City it should be Disabled friendly-A city accessible by every citizen. 2. Making the best use of all the renewable energy and be an independent city. 3. Good public footpaths if the roads cannot be widened; to encourage people to walk more 4. Traffic lights should be installed to control the heavy traffic.:)

Shifting of HQ & Battallion of Assam Rifles to some other location outside the city and make Children's Park, Recreation Park,Vehicle Parking and Multi Utility Ground in its place. MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISION- The overall developmental works, plans, contract work execution and payment of bills should be under a Committee comprising members from different fields/lines and to ensure transparent utilisation of funds, the accounts should be audited annually.
