The role of new and renewable energy has been increasing significantly in recent times with the growing concern for the country's energy security. To achieve energy self-sufficiency, it is necessary to deploy new and renewable energy for supplementing the energy requirements of our country. So, we ask you to suggest ways for encouraging the use of renewable energy on this open discussion forum.

Solar is one of the cheapest renewable energy sources for individuals - solar water heater and lighting. Being in coastal region of Karnataka we get good sun light almost 325 days. Solar heated water can be used not only in bathroom but also in the kitchen as pre-heated water for boing vegetables, rice. etc. so that we can save on LPG too. Increase the subsidy given for solar instruments so as to encourage people to go for them. Thanks.

Solar power should be promoted vigorously. Import duties of all it's components should be zero. Solar installations should be without any excise/other duties on inputs and also final product. No service tax should be charged for installing units. National policy required so that all electricity supply companies will upload the power generated with credit given for 100% power uploaded against consumption. Any excess generated should be paid for. If usage is more than generation, user to pay.

Use of LPG is very convenient. Now PM had ambitious intention for 1 crore LPG connections in rural areas. The plan is commendable. But in the meantime it is promoting wastage of biomass which is a domestic energy source. In rural or semi-urban area of Kerala and Tamilnadu most of the biomass is burned away as there does not exist any other way to dispose.Hence Govt should install community model bio-mass plants wherever possible free of cost and maintain it in every wards.

Since I am experienced power evacuation issues, solar power evacuation is going to be a big challenge for power Engineers. Hitherto we are having individual solar plants of max. 10 MW and our country's solar production was around 2500MW max. But present capacity is more than 5000MW plus. Central government's target of solar power generation is around 100000 MW in the next 5 years. Already we experienced power backdown for solar plant from EBs due to higher cost.

To Revolutionise India, Working ONLY on setting up of new renewable energy plants and increasing the number of renewable units would not be the only feasible solution. INSTEAD...Should Work upon to enhance the EFFICIENCY. Lets take a case of Solar power plants. They are working with a max. efficiency of approx. 45%.To extract remaining 55%,I explored a project titled as MAXIMUM POWER POINT TRACKING in my Research. This will allow 100% conversion of light to electricity through some algorithms.
