The role of new and renewable energy has been increasing significantly in recent times with the growing concern for the country's energy security. To achieve energy self-sufficiency, it is necessary to deploy new and renewable energy for supplementing the energy requirements of our country. So, we ask you to suggest ways for encouraging the use of renewable energy on this open discussion forum.

We can setup Wind mill in Hill areas, inside the sea to generate electricity. I think Govt. should take help of Europe country like Netherlands, Germany who had setup Windmills inside the sea and Hill areas. States like Maharashtra, Sout East/West of India, Uttrakhand and East states have majority of Sea and Hills area. We can setup Windmills there and generate Electricity. I don't know why Govt. is not looking into setup of Windmills across country. I can see only a few areas in Gujarat.

Make solar panel installation on roof tops all houses and apartment complexes compulsory along with solar water heating and rain water harvesting. they should use solar lights and draw power for other than lighting purpose only. Discourage construction of single/ double storied houses which is used as status symbol and to make profit.. Only multi storied apartment should be encouraged to save precious land which can be used for agriculture or industrial purpose.

Contribution of solar energy can be enhanced very fast , if it is implemented in farming sector where availability of sunlight is good for whole year.Because farming sector does not require much power during rainy days when solar performance decreases.Excess power generated from farming sector can be transmitted in nearby rural areas to light every home. This will reduce cost for power transmission infrastructure installation and maintenance, which can be provided to farmers as subsidy for solar.

While India has got abundant blessings of Mother Nature and Suryadev, only few states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu have used it wisely. Now, coastal states should be encouraged to generate more energy from Solar, Wind and Sea Waves. More Solar panels should be installed in states o Western India, while Wind-mills should be installed in the Eastern states. Govt.should encourage citizens to install Solar panels on their rooftops and to use Solar Energy more.

Indian is abundantly blessed with power of Sun. We are making use of only a very tiny portion of it. For improving the power structure of India, Solar energy should be given a huge boost. Solar panels should be installed at every available places. It should be installed over all canals across India since it has dual advantage of Solar power generation and preventing water evaporation. It should be in all open parking areas thereby giving shade for vehicles too. All roof tops needs to be covered.

Make Solar power system and wind power system more compact, cheap and easy to reach to every individual, so they can afford it, it is still quite costly when it comes to investment. some thing like good EMI terms can help people get attraction towards it. use Rajesthan's desert land for generating great amount of solar power energy,

Allow everybody to invest in a solar power plant. This investments can be through share of the plant solar panels equivalent to the energy they are using in their home, yearly. This will give people of India, a new form of investment and returns. At the same time they will be proud to be contributing in India development, protecting environment and producing their required energy in non conventional way. Also it will save on the expenses and hazards of batteries if they go for their small unit

I admire the way renewable energy projects are put in place. Is there one place on the website, I could know the various projects and the progress being made - similar to GARV and UJALA initiates? Since the grid upgrades, and improvements in State Electricity boards need time and investment, more efforts should be directed towards distributed power generation for captive consumption by consumers and private companies. May be this is being done, but a quantitative progress update will help
