Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has been selected through a competitive process for SMART City Mission initiative of Government of India. In the next phase, Coimbatore city has to compete with 98 other cities from across the country to make it into the Top 20 cities which will be taken up for the first round of funding, for the financial year 2015-16.

Citizens and stakeholders of Coimbatore are requested to post their views and suggestions on how to make Coimbatore a Smart one. The citizens may organize their thoughts on the following topics

1. What should be the Vision of the Coimbatore
2. Strengths, areas of improvement & solutions across the following sectors

a. City Spatial Structure, Transportation and Green Spaces
b. Energy, Water, Waste Water and Environment
c. Housing, Health, Education, Security, Law and Order
d. Citizen Engagement, Smart Solutions and IT-led service delivery

Citizens can also reach us through the official site of Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation www.ccmc.gov.in or through the Facebook page www.facebook.com/smartcity.coimbatorecorporation which is the official page for smart city challenge.

1. Smart city should have smarter people. Government should take steps to educate people about the importance of smart city before providing the facilities. People should make use of the facilities in the right way. 2. Bicycle and pedestrian friendly roads. 3. Improved connectivity with other cities by means of rail and road. 4. Support agriculture and farmers. 5. E-governance portals for all kinds of services. 6. Smart ATMcards based on the Aadhar card which can be used for public transit.

1)All major roads in Coimbatore should be four lane. Roadside drains should be constructed. Need Scheme roads connecting the major roads to get rid of traffic congestion.Plant trees on the road sides. 2)Integrated bus stand & proposal for Metro trains 3)Expansion of Coimbatore railway station & other local stations (Peelamedu). 4)Airport Expansion with international standard infrastructure. 5)All the open drains should be closed. 6)Multi Level Parking Stations in Coimbatore City Limits.

1.Improve public transport, Buses & trains to adhere punctuality 2.Proper planning of drainage and sewage facilities across city 3.Upgrade roads to occupy future population of vehicles 4.Restrict or control people migrating in to densely populated areas, instead extend the city with proper facilities

Coimbatore need Local Trains Routes Stops connecting all 100 Wards of Coimbatore City. Coimbatore need Cycling & Pedestrian Track paths. Coimbatore need to improve Podhanur Railway Station for all transports within city local. Coimbatore need Train Connectivity (South)Eachanari to(North)Thudiyalur &(east)Ondipudhur to(West)Marudhamalai. Coimbatore need to be a Eco-Tourism Spot. Coimbatore need Airport with International Connectivity. Coimbatore need Multispecialty Hospital. #Coimbatore

1. Organize the roads and place traffic signal, where ever required. Even all small junctions should have traffic signal 2. Plant more trees 3. Make garbage collection a regular practice. Place garbage collection boxes in frequent distances, so that people throw waste only in the boxes 4. Encourage solar current generation and usage for domestic purpose 5. Bring more opportunities for farmers to sell their goods directly to the customers, as Coimbatore is surrounded by agricultural lands

1. Remove all encroachments on the city roads 2. Move the encroachments to a organised designated area. 3. Proper planning by all departments and co-ordination between different departments before undertaking any work of development. 4. Strict action against defaulters- citizens or contractors or officials 5. Corruption free work 6. Education of the citizens about his responsibility towards the city 7. Strict regulation of new projects regarding legality and compliance to rules.

1.Plant trees on the road sides. 2.Seperate lane for Bicycling. 3.Widen the roads. 4.Give proper tools and safety for the employees who are in the corporation for cleaning . 5.Encourage the students on sports & education along with the trends,technologies and History especially on the Government schools.

1. Corporation departments to be digitized and available over net with active feedback management, escalation paths and transparent budgeting and planning. 2. Implement competitive laws, which will avoid big players monopoly in an area and promote diversified business in all areas in appropriate incentives. 3. Local people first engagement in infrastructure projects will promote ownership and sense of pride in the city.
