We bring to you this wonderful news that our city-Pasighat has been selected under 23 fast track cities by Govt. of India and we need to submit the revised plan by 15th April 2016. As we know that we worked very hard in our previous attempt however unfortunately we missed coming in the first 20 list of cities and finished at 39th rank - missing by just 3 points. Let us take this as a positive feedback that we were very close to winning it and were far ahead of many other big cities.

Looking ahead, we need to work on the gaps identified by Govt. of India to revamp the proposal. One of the key weaknesses identified is SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threat) analysis. Here, specifically, Weakness and Threat needs to be more elaborate. We have uploaded a discussion page on mygov portal about this aspect of proposal and need support of people of Pasighat to come up in big numbers and contribute towards this discussion. Let’s brace up for this challenge and work with renewed and reinvigorated spirit in the direction of making Pasighat a smart city.

All municipalities, regardless of size and facility level, reported a few common issues regarding the labour market for water and wastewater treatment facilities. Municipality size, location and facility level all factor into the recruitment, retention and training challenges a facility encounters. 1. Shortage of qualified operators and operators-intraining (OITs)

For the past three years, turnover in water/wastewater treatment facilities has been nearly double that of solid waste facilities. One-third of the facilities surveyed had difficulties retaining workers at the intermediate experience level. However, both water/wastewater treatment and solid waste management facilities have reported much lower turnover in 2009 than in the previous two years.

We have to increase the total no. of fire brigade vehicles and the staffs as the present ones are unable to cope when in need. Many more water refilling points have to be provided at various locations for quick refilling. Also make it mandatory that, water supply is adequately regular to these refilling stations.

While solid waste management facilities reported that skilled labour positions were the most in demand, no recruitment difficulties for these positions was expressed. Conversely, the recruitment of facility managers was a notable challenge, as 59% of facilities surveyed reported difficulty in hiring for this role.

In view of natural calamity, the authorities need to be in preparedness by installing warning system to alert the citizens. Though the banks of the Siang River has been protected by construction of flood protection dykes, bunds etc,. care has to be taken regarding its periodical maintenance.

A large portion is approaching the average age of retirement, and perhaps most alarming, is the prevalence of workers in positions critical to facility operation nearing retirement. For example, in both water/wastewater treatment and solid waste management, over 40% of facility managers are over 50 years of age.

In experience was one of the main reasons for stagnancy under the tourism sector not only in Pasighat but also the whole of Arunachal Pradesh. Bad connectivity was another factor. But Pasighat being located at the foothills has consideration improved its connectivity. With its proximity with neighboring Assam and introduction of Railways is going to boost the tourism in the locality. Many hotels have also been built with the increase in population which can cater to the visitors.

My city should have the smartest classrooms for our children. My city should be the smartest in providing internal security. My city should have inbuilt escalator ramps for trouble free commutation of the differently able. My city should be smart enough to grow with value addition to the pristine beauty of mighty Siang. My city should be a centre of trading for farmers who cultivate organic products. My city should provide shelter and solace to the aged. My city should be green.
