We bring to you this wonderful news that our city-Pasighat has been selected under 23 fast track cities by Govt. of India and we need to submit the revised plan by 15th April 2016. As we know that we worked very hard in our previous attempt however unfortunately we missed coming in the first 20 list of cities and finished at 39th rank - missing by just 3 points. Let us take this as a positive feedback that we were very close to winning it and were far ahead of many other big cities.

Looking ahead, we need to work on the gaps identified by Govt. of India to revamp the proposal. One of the key weaknesses identified is SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threat) analysis. Here, specifically, Weakness and Threat needs to be more elaborate. We have uploaded a discussion page on mygov portal about this aspect of proposal and need support of people of Pasighat to come up in big numbers and contribute towards this discussion. Let’s brace up for this challenge and work with renewed and reinvigorated spirit in the direction of making Pasighat a smart city.

1. We need to find a mechanism by which we can keep our city clean and green. In the name of development trees in the residential are cut down at a very rapid rate. For construction of concrete building how many tress are being cut down. The district or municipal has no idea how to stop or they cannot stop it either. Each and every tree whether it is in public or private land should be property of Municipal and any damage to it should be penalized

Water quality of Pasighat is very pure. A measurement system downstream of each inlet will help identify the sources & pattern of pollution causing factors. Specific targets can be set to relevant municipal body & tracked. Same model replicated for each inlet allows macro/micro analysis/improvement.

The pasighat in place for left bank of Siang River. Thereafter, Adis from different hilly areas of upper belt settled at Sikel, Romkang, Balek, Roing, Tikra, Rasam, Mongku, Kelek and so on. Scholars say that the present Pasighat was known as ‘Paklek’ or Paglek Pigo originated from Kopak (BANANA). By using the last syllabi of KOPAK -PAK + LEK =PAKLEK was invented.

According to district information and Public Relation officer, Mr. Onyok Pertin, earlier Pasighat was a place of Dibu-Marang people before the advent of Adis. According to history, one Baling of Yirang clan fought with another Baling of Dibu-Marang clan and after prolonged fight both died together at present Sibo-Korong. In Adi word ‘Sibo’ means ‘die together’, Korong means river or stream.
