आदरणीय प्रधानमंत्री जी गांव स्तर पर बेहतर स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं की सुलभता के लिए कार्यरत आशा बहुओं की महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका रहती है। चूंकि यह उसी समुदाय की सदस्य होती हैं तथा वहीं पर रह रह कर अपने समुदाय के लोगों को स्वास्थ्य स्वच्छता एवं पोषण संबंधी व्यवहारों में परिवर्तन लाने का कार्य करती है।वर्तमान में जिले स्तर पर वर्ष में एक बार इनका एक सम्मेलन आयोजित किया जाता है जिसमें सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम इत्यादि किए जाते हैं जिसके अंतर्गत सुदूर गांव से सभी आशाएं नहीं सम्मिलित हो पाती हैं। अगर यह ही कार्यक्रम जिले स्तर पर नहीं होकर ब्लॉक स्तर पर वर्ष में एक बार आयोजित किए जाएं तो इसमें सभी आशाओं की प्रतिभागिता भी बढ़ेगी तथा आसानी से के साथ यह कार्यक्रम ग्रामीण जनता के साथ बेहतर रूप से हो पाएंगे और इसके माध्यम से क्षेत्रीय जनता भी आशाओं के कार्यों एवं उपलब्धि के बारे में अधिक जागरूक हो पाएगी, इन कार्यक्रम के अंतर्गत श्रेष्ठतम आशाओं को एसडीएम या क्षेत्रीय जनप्रतिनिधि के माध्यम से पुरस्कृत भी कराया जाना चाहिए।

The Indian culture cannot be defined in one term. It is the amalgamation of various distinct cultures spread across the whole country. Our dynamic culture dates back to around 4,500 years and is one of the oldest cultures. We all know that upholding our cultural values is something that is taught in every Indian family. Indian traditions and heritage have always been a pool of diversity. From languages to festivals, from food to dance forms, the unique blend of diversity in the Indian culture is what makes it stand out from the rest of the world. India is the perfect example of ‘Unity in Diversity. It has a plethora of different cultures, languages, traditions, values, etc, yet there is a sense of togetherness and people from different walks of life coexist harmoniously. Despite the high level of geographical diversity, we are still taught ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ which means each guest should be treated like God, and this speaks volumes about the kind of values that our culture upholds.

Whether it’s an occasion of jubilation and triumph or a time of sorrow and grief, the people are always standing beside each other and this is the righteous spirit and principle of our culture that is commended worldwide. Indians are known for their delicious and piquant cuisine. For Indians, cooking for others affirms a close bond. We have a popular saying that goes “the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach”.

Promotion of people as cultural brand ambassadors, building influence through the local vernacular media, an improved media strategy that promotes cultural content and supports cultural projects with less or no commercial value can also help preserve and promote culture. The list is not exhaustive but it is important to bear in mind to optimally use what is available rather than what can be made available. It is imperative to realize that the culture of any society is important because that is what differentiates one society from the other, and media has the power to affect our relationship with the world and have a transformative impact on culture and the society at large. It is here that the Government policy also plays a very crucial role vis-a-vis the media. The state must recognize the latter’s role in disseminating, if not generating cultural knowledge and promoting cultural discourse.
