Ban fresh sanction of industries within five kms on either side of the course of Ganga. Existing industries to take care of disposal of its affluent, till these install affluent treatment plants or else the industry be locked out. Municipal authorities of the areas of erring industries be sacked. Levy penal charges per cubic meter of muck since inception of a particular industry or agency that have failed to dispose off the muck rightly. Multi-layered plantation on both the banks.

Pollutants can also be minimized by setting up the waste recycling units by the large & medium scale industrial units situated near by the river Ganga, in addition of continuously operating the ETP plants. As it is their social responsibility to provide fresh environment in the surroundings. In our opinion it does not cost much more in comparison to their income & govt. has to change the the taxation policy accordingly so that these industrial units can be compensated to some extent.

In most of the cases water get polluted by drainage of industrial toxic material along with water. Although, presently most of the plant has ETP plant but they are not running properly and the plant is only for fulfilling the guidelines of the PCB & getting no objection from the dept. Administrative body has to be insured that the water drained in Ganga adequately treated and free from toxic ingredients & also avoidance of other pollutants from the industry.

The concept here is simple. If people are emitting things that others downstream did not sign up for, then they need to make those people whole by compensation. Once emitters factor in the economic costs of compensating lakhs of people affected by emissions into the Ganga water, they will find it much cheaper to clean up. This is a best practice abroad as well.

Electricity and water supply to industries should be made conditional to their meeting pollution control norms. Groundwater use within industries should also be controlled by declaring state control over all groundwater [ just as surface water is under state control]. Make it mandatory for every industry to have a department for pollution control and for progressive greening of that industry. Road map for greening all industries - particularly those that abet rivers- to be drawn up.

..Industry always needed for developing country but with some norms must be there.Specially concerning river Ganga precaution should be more intensified. In my opinion stop to install them on the bank ofthe river. In India no scarcity of land.A river is mainly polluted by the waste products of industry, most of them are health hazards.by recycling method can modify the wastage to some usable article, manure etc..Research project on toxicated smokeless device can solve problem to some extent.

To clean Ganga, target Kanpur small scale factories operating out of houses and small lanes who do small jobs for big leather factories,Government on own cost should install equipment near these small factories and see too it that all polluted water originating from them goes directly to sewage plant..These small factories can be asked to pay monthly rental for this task. 2)If this is high cost activity, ask corporates for support in CSR budget with some additional tax relief, they will love it
