Millions of people can get livelihood if hawkers are allowed to use footpath space in cities wherever it is more than 8 feet. Only that the kiosks will have back towards the road and face backward so that road space is not encroached by the shoppers. These can be standardized kiosks with a box of the size 3feetx2feetx2feet with drawers to keep their stuff when closed. Thailand follows this model. There is space after every 4 kiosks for people to enter and exit, and garbage can for trash.
