Loofah Kitchen Sponge Cleaning products are a massive source of plastic pollution in every UK household, with plastic sponges and scourers constantly being bought and ending up in the bin way too frequently.  But there are a lot of eco-friendly solutions, such as heavy duty kitchen sponges made with plant-derived materials that are fully compostable like this one with the bottom layer made of biodegradable cellulose, of which 70% is wood pulp and 30% cotton pulp.

Cotton Shopping Bags A rough estimate would have it that 500 single-use plastic bags are replaced by using one reusable bag for one year. If you shop for 70 years this simple action will save 350000 bags. If you are not sure which type of material is more eco-friendly when it comes to carrier bags, have a look at this blog postwhere I talk about this very topic.

Cotton Produce Bags The reduction in single-use plastic when swapping to reusable bags enormous, and it’s such an easy change to do.  Cotton produce bags are great for picking vegetables and fruit at the supermarket, at farmers markets or even just your local bakery. We use our large one to store onions and potatoes too!

Coconut Bowl Perfect for granola, cereals and porridge, but also a fantastic recipient for fruit salads, soups (hot and cold), dips and much more, these natural wooden bowls are carved out of coconut shells that would have otherwise been thrown away.

Oil for Hair Protection Moisturise and condition our hair is a really important step to keep our locks healthy and nourished. That’s why after washing my hair I apply a hair serum on my ends to rebalance the natural oils and hydration of my hair.

Coconut Soap Dish Similar to wood, coconut is another great eco-friendly material, especially when the coconut shells used are actually discarded ones that would have been gone to waste. Repurposing materials is a fantastic way to create new sustainable products, and coconut is no exception

Reusable Bamboo Water Bottle  Plastic bottles are a serious issue as they are literally everywhere, sold globally to millions of people. Convenience is one of the main issues I think, together with lack of planning, as it’s so easy to simply buy drinks in plastic from any corner shop or supermarket. However the cost of our convenience is becoming increasingly high: as a rough estimate, plastic bottles require up to 700 years to naturally dissolve. So if you haven’t already switched to reusable bottles, this is the time to grab yours -or gift one to someone you love that needs one.

Bamboo Straws  Maybe one of the most emblematic images when it comes to the terrible consequences of plastic pollution is a video by marine biologist Christine Figgener, who in 2015 recorder removing a plastic straw from a sea turtle’s nose. That video sparked a global outrage and it was the catalyst for petitions all over the world to ban plastic straws and pressure big corporations such as Starbucks and MacDonald among others to stop distributing billions of them. There are so many eco-friendly ways of still enjoying sipping your favourite drink on the beach: reusable straws are a super easy swap that can actually eliminate this issue entirely by using long lasting materials such as bamboo, metal or glass.

Bottle Cleaning Brush  Some of the toughest things to clean are vases and long thin glasses, as it’s so hard to reach every spot and make sure to give them a good clean. This is bottle brush can reach every bacteria trying to hide at the bottom of your water bottles or coffee mug. Remember to use a natural dish soap with it to make sure not to send any polluting chemicals down the drains either! Also, for all mums out there, this is a life saver to clean baby bottles!
