While each smart city will have distinctive features specific to its location, demography, culture and other such factors, there maybe smart solutions to problems which are common to all cities. This contest seeks to identify such smart and innovative solutions to common problems. All questions in this category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing. Questions 1. Out of the following 21 smart solutions, select 3 solutions that should be applied to all Indian cities and provide a brief write-up (max. 50 words) to explain why. 2. Describe a ‘smart’ idea that you have seen in some other city(anywhere in the world) that you would like to see replicated in your own city. ‘Smart idea’ means doing more with less. 3. Describe 3 ways that Indian cities can reduce the gap between rich and poor. 4. List out 5 essential facts about your local municipal corporation that should be available to all citizens. Entry Deadline • Entries may be submitted online on the mygov.in portal latest by 23.59 hours (11.59 pm) on Saturday, 20th June 2015. Evaluation The submissions will be evaluated on the following criteria: • Do-ability (50%) • Innovation (50%) Award Two winners in each category will be awarded a citation from the Prime Minister at the Smart City Mission Launch on June 25th, 2015 at VigyanBhavan, New Delhi, along witha cash prize of the following amounts: • Rs. 40,000 - First PrizeRs. 25,000 - Second Prize The winning ideas would be shared with the 100 SmartCities as potentiallyimplementablesolutions and will be considered for pilot • All questions in a particular category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing. • The participants(s) entries will be judged for each category independently and on merit. In case of short listing in more than one category, a participant will receive prize money for one category only. • The length of each answer is limited to 250 words or less. Attached is the pdf file ( commoncity.pdf) towards the task "Common Solutions for all cities". Since I do not have access to MS-Word, and the open source editor's ( Open Office) .doc output did not upload on the site, I have uploaded a pdf document. I will attempt to upload the non-MS-Word generated .doc file. However, I cannot predict if this .doc will open or display correctly on MS-Word. Hence, please accept the pdf file instead.

1.Required employment shall be ensured to all the eligible public. 2.Proper maintenance of roads connecting nearest towns so that village peoples can go to the towns and earn their food. 3. Students can get higher education if good roads and public transportation ensured. 4.Adequate water by connecting the rivers between adjacent states shall be made available for the agricultural purposes. By doing the above, the Hon'ble PM can start the race of reducing gap between rich & poor.

4. We should be aware about - total funding for the municipality, project undertaken, status of previous project undertaken, amount utilised for completion of the projects and amount left unused.

1.Waste water to be treated, smart meter and water management & smart meter & electricity management. Improper(non-judicious) utilisation of natural resources will be a severe menace whose brunt will be borne by our future generations. 2. Smart idea - converting waste plastic back into crude oil 3. Reducing the gap between rich and poor - Access to proper nutrition and shelter with electricity, proper education for their children and providing them soft loans for entrepreneurial activities.

A TEAM SHOULD BE MADE OF 25 PEOPLE IN EACH CITY THAT WOULD TEACH PEOPLE IN DEPTH TO PROFIT OF SCHEMES,LAUNCHED BY GOVERNMENT,ACTIONS OF GOVERNMENT.THAT TELL GOVERNMENT THAT IS THE PUBLIC HAPPY WITH THEM OR NOT.

IN MY OPINION 90% OF INDIANS WANT TO CONTRIBUTE TO CLEAN INDIA MISSION BUT THEY THINK WHAT WOULD HAPPEN ONLY IF I CONTRIBUTE THEREFORE SHOULD AN ADVERTISEMENT SHOULD BE MADE SPREADING THE MESSAGE YOU MAKE TWO HANDS AND EVERYONE WILL FOLLOW YOU.THERE IS AN ACUTE SCARCITY OF DUSTBIN IN THE COUNTRY,IF CANT FULFILLED SPREAD MESSAGE TO CARRY WASTE AND DISCHARGE AT CORRECT PLACE.CHILDREN ARE THE FUTURE OF A COUNTRY TEACHING ITS IMPORTANCE SHOULD BE ADDED TO C.B.S.E SYLLABUS.

Answer 4 For municipal corporations need to publish following key facts 1. A Service Menu for ones extended by corporation. 2. Livability index for city areas with respect to available physical and social infrastructure 3. Details of building permits , completed buildings , rented / self occupancy housing to balance sousing stock 4. Cost of Service 5. Citizen to be able to request , know about works in his area of residence

Answer 3 Bridging Gap amongst Rich and Poor can only be achieved by providing 1. Avenue for citizens to extend service for which he has hot a skill , approach given in answer 1 is way to do this 2. Cost of Service need to be in line with output 3. Service should be available as per citizen demand
