While each smart city will have distinctive features specific to its location, demography, culture and other such factors, there maybe smart solutions to problems which are common to all cities. This contest seeks to identify such smart and innovative solutions to common problems. All questions in this category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing. Questions 1. Out of the following 21 smart solutions, select 3 solutions that should be applied to all Indian cities and provide a brief write-up (max. 50 words) to explain why. 2. Describe a ‘smart’ idea that you have seen in some other city(anywhere in the world) that you would like to see replicated in your own city. ‘Smart idea’ means doing more with less. 3. Describe 3 ways that Indian cities can reduce the gap between rich and poor. 4. List out 5 essential facts about your local municipal corporation that should be available to all citizens. Entry Deadline • Entries may be submitted online on the mygov.in portal latest by 23.59 hours (11.59 pm) on Saturday, 20th June 2015. Evaluation The submissions will be evaluated on the following criteria: • Do-ability (50%) • Innovation (50%) Award Two winners in each category will be awarded a citation from the Prime Minister at the Smart City Mission Launch on June 25th, 2015 at VigyanBhavan, New Delhi, along witha cash prize of the following amounts: • Rs. 40,000 - First Prize • Rs. 25,000 - Second Prize The winning ideas would be shared with the 100 SmartCities as potentiallyimplementablesolutions and will be considered for pilot • All questions in a particular category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing. • The participants(s) entries will be judged for each category independently and on merit. In case of short listing in more than one category, a participant will receive prize money for one category only. • The length of each answer is limited to 250 words or less. 1.There must be rain harvesting applyed if possible otherwise do how much can possible. 2.there must be 60:40 ratio that means there must be 60% area for fields and tree or gardens and remaining 40% for buildings. 3. City must depend on itself so we have to do is solar must for every building so they are not much dependent. 4. Smart city is not for looks there must be environment that people satisfied while residence there. There must be quality food and services there.

There was a multipurpose digital board on every important place of the smart cities in which people find each and every important information for the city In just a click away.eg if someone wants to go to a shopping mall then he just type the name of the mall and he quickly see the address and even the road map to visit the mall.And also there is a Specified number of public vehicles to avoid the jam situation in the city.

Dear Sir, I am from Muzaffarnagar district of UP I have the idea to make a place in each district for farmers to sell their crops direct to customers with a specified limit of price so that the people of the city have enough food to eat and if the farmers still left the crop then they can sell the surplus to other districts which have less supply. This makes farmers be self reliable and the govt authorities also got help in reducing corruption. If my idea seems to be wrong then pls ignore it.

Each cities should be self sufficient of its own. It is the duty of all natives living in cities to ensure clean air and good food. All buildings should ensure a minimum trees to be planted in there premises, and should ensure proper utilization of terrace by doing farming of fruits and vegetables, which may help in future , for future scarcity of all these vegetables that may rise.

My idea of smart city is like holding only one card which is an master key to all solutions which is possible by linking person details with its ward office, income tax officit will be a situation where both gov.and the citizen can interact with each other.Also for any collection like Toll or entry to any tourist place the card will be enough which linked to his bank account will detuct the amount directly.And all trandactions linked with the card will help gov In knowing all the transactions

SIR, smart cities should have all mordern amenities but it will not be on the expense neglecting environment. We should develop our old habbit of living close to nature.growing trees outside house and along road should be mandatory. The sewage treated water or stored rain water can be used for this.

Others - Skill development centres to be placed on the circular rail route at six major places. Centres to provide placement services. To act as provider of services such as plumbing, carpentry, electrician on calls. This could fund the institutions. These centres also to place emphasis on reviving traditional arts of the area. The centres to also provide tier two services such as architects, engineers etc. It is to also house e governance hubs which could be manned as part of training process

Urban Mobility - Remove overhead transmission lines. Have metro spokes for circular rail corridor. Plan parallel tracks which would run longdistance trains. Public transport to be run on no profit no loss basis. Ambulance corridor to link hospital networks which could be interconnected through dedicated underpasses. Friction energy generation and cycle tracks to be put in place. Place grade separators at all junctions. No road to be less than 100ft wide. Pelican & underground ramps crossing.

Waste management - Segregate res, comml and market areas. Keep hospitals networked for separate waste disposal and movement of patients. Channelise market waste for biogas plants. residential waste to go in for urea and recycled water for gardens and roadside trees. Comml area waste to go in for segregation and usage. Parks could be hubs for residential waste mgt. Hospital waste to go into common incinerators which could also house electric crematoria. Pet waste mgt to be segregated for farm use

Energy - Build naturally lighted and ventilated buildings. Prevent highrises. Build boxtype underground thoroughfares for each public utility. Harness solar energy from rooftops, lay windmills on the highways, channelise sewage to generate biogas, segregate residential, comml and market areas, make it airconditioning free. Plant trees on medians and opposite side of the road which contains the box utility. Harness solar and wind energy from public transport. Restrict private transport.
