During the Rashtriya Ekta Divas address on 31st October, on the occasion of birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced that the Government of India proposes to launch a new initiative called ‘EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’. The programme aims to give a boost to the existing cultural connect between different parts of the country and enhance interaction between people living in different states.

Conceptually, the idea is that each year one state should connect to any other state in India on a reciprocal basis. As the Prime Minister himself explained through an example in his speech, "Haryana as a state can decide to connect with Tamil Nadu for the year 2016 and the activities that Haryana state can undertake may include popularizing the rich heritage of Tamil Nadu in Haryana through song festivals, book festivals, literary events, food festivals, tours of people of Haryana to Tamil Nadu and vice versa. In the year 2017, Haryana would connect to any other state and in 2018 to another state and so on".

The knowledge of the culture, traditions and practices of different states will lead to an enhanced understanding and bonding between each other thereby strengthening the unity and and integrity of India. The full address of the portion of the Prime Minister's speech, where he announced the scheme, can be accessed here.

We believe that such an initiative to connect people-to-people should be implemented with inputs from the citizens of India.

With this view, MyGov introduces the ‘EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ contest. Citizens are invited to submit their ideas and suggestions on how the programme should be structured so as to encapsulate its true spirit in all its various dimensions and capture the diversity that characterises India.

While the citizens are free to submit their ideas in kernel format, they can also expand in detail on the themes and sub-themes. Citizens may consider the following general themes on which to base their ideas, while submitting their entries. These themes are only indicative and participants are free to include any other points they deem appropriate.

1. Identifying role of central government and state governments in implementing the programme
2. Identifying the manner in which the governments, civil society and private sector can work together.
3. Specifying the Use of modern communication tools, including social media.
4. Documentation of success stories.
5. Making 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' a people's movement rather than a government programme.

Participants are encouraged to submit original and innovative ideas. An idea, merely rich in detail but lacking originality, would not score more than a very innovative idea explained briefly. However, if a very innovative idea is also explained in detail, it will naturally score higher.

Participants may submit their entries as attached PDF documents while providing a summary of their proposals in the comment section.

The winners of the contest will be awarded a certificate by the Prime Minister, along with cash prizes as follows:

1. First Prize - Rs. 100,000/-
2. Second Prize - Rs. 75,000/-
3. Third Prize - Rs. 50,000/-

The last date for submission is 25th December, 2015.

SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON SCHOOL CHILDREN AND YOUTH - the best way to make this programme successful vest in inclusion of school children and youth as the both groups has energy and can be best utilised. Special attention should be paid on these two groups. There should be special programmes for these two groups in EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat campaign

The Local languages should be promoted among the students rather than only western languages. Some crisp and creative changes should be made to indigenous music and dance so that people get attached to these things. Also states should be given the opportunity to showcase their state talents at a national level.

The state Odisha can be linked with Gujarat with the theme 'Religious inheritance and crafts'. Mythology says that Lord Krishna had built Dwarka and ruled there .After his eternal abode when his soul left the body,he is being worshipped as Lord Jagannath in Puri in the form of 'nabhi' of Lord Krishna put inside the idol of Lord Jagannath. The celebration of different mythological episodes and religious heritage common to Gujarat and Odisha will make the existing bond even more stronger.

As state level intellectual don't travel across states so views get limited to only state interest. Solution is simple need 'Young Thinkers' session where group of youth from two or multiple state come together and talk on solution of issues between 2 state Ex Karanatak & Tamilnadu youth can come on one platform and talk on solution of water issue.Youth discussion on positive topic will help in long term.In Pune we run 'Young Thinker' series which promote new positive thinkers.

Basic services such as sanitation, waste management, lake maintenance etc. are performed by municipalities as per their own wisdom. The solutions are at times on border line of being absurd. Scientific ways of managing these right ways are very few. The solutions should be decided at national level as per available technology and the municipalities should be allowed to pick from given list only, by enacting a suitable law. Thank you.

For #Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharath , I wish to suggest the following. ** In the present situation, to achieve the same, we have to address the main problem of 'Poverty and Illiteracy'. Further Govt should facilitate a community living ie. people from different area/religion to stay together at an area, so that individuals shall know each others beliefs/customs and develop a deep tolerance level. In this connection 'Singapore Govt' had developed a novel way which can be replicated by us.
