first of all basic facilities should be provided to them.like electricity, computers and internet..a special web site should be made for them and acessof that website should be very simple which they can understand easily..now the web site should have the latest updated content about the prices in market, correct weather report, proper information section should be made which will let them know about the seasonal crops, pesticide suited for each crop etc. there should b a online help desk.

I saw the presentation of Maheshwariji. It is an excellent idea with a very specific and detailed approach towards digitizing Indias map and Geographical extent. And the Hill task has been broken down to village level(basic unit) which would make it much simpler to achieve. Kudos! But i have a small reservation regarding taking Wikimapia's help. Firstly it is an open source application hence very prone to security threats Secondly we have a govt. agency GIS.nic.in already assigned to this task

The above two comments are based on the fact that ,when the proce of Tomato is Rs.50 in Delhi ,the price in Haldibari in Jalpaiguri District is less than Rs.1 per Kg .travel time to delhi for this product is only 24 hour by train and 2-3 days by truck .so along with the agricultural marketing ,technology ,Government should provide express catagory railway racks on seasonal basis.Local banks ,gram in banks shall have sufficient staffs for verifying the farms and 24X 7 day loan facility .

Besides the short term goal of agricultural marketing data sharing and forecast and information to farmers by the government ,the other aspect is technology improvement and sharing which is for long term benifits of the farmers for the optimum production or introduction of new crop ,less of pesticides ,et. etc.

We have data of crop production (especially vegetable) by each area of any particular. We have data of the High ,Medium and Low price of all the local market( Mandi ) .If not cole it can be a local task which can be done .Besides this we have data of where these products were exported and what was the price there at that time .Having all these information ,the potential good price agricultural product can be identified and informed to farmers so that they earn optimum and price also gets controll

Farmers need to know following - 1) Whole-sale prices at which Government is buying their crop 2) Micro-financing options form government/NGOs 3) Information on minimum labor ( MNEGRA) 4) Report grievances against promised benefits - grassroot level implementation With mobile penetration in India - all of above can be easily managed through m-governance. Portal+call Center+app Above information can be dissipated through SMS, local representatives of Village can act as facilitator.
