National Highway Authority of India currently is planning to build a citizen facing interface which can cater to all highway related needs of NH commuters. NHAI already has an Android mobile application called Sukhaad Yatra (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rsawh.nhia&hl=en_IN&gl=US) which needs to be upgraded and advanced further.

Citizens are invited to share their ideas on how the Sukhad Yatra app can be improved with additional features/ integrations to better service the needs of citizens. The end outcome is to improve the experience of NH commuters and build a robust medium of 2-way communication.

The tool will not be limited to but can cover the following areas:
● Informing users of construction and maintenance activities
● Allowing users to register complaints pertaining to the condition of the highway or highway activities such as toll (for eg. If wait times for a toll gate are too long or if FasTag is not working at a gate)
● Allow users to rate highways on various characteristics of the highway around their experience as a rider (on both negative and positive characteristics of experience, for example whether the NH offers a scenic route or view)
● Allow user to access emergency and first response services on the highway
● Allow users to access information on wayside amenities, petrol pumps, EV stations etc. Information about location of facilities along the route can be searched on Google Maps but this is hard to access for non smartphone users.
● Allow users to report traffic congestion, accidents, debris, toll-relates issues, request EV charging points etc to local command centres (Eg. Waze)
● The interface should be able to cater to user-needs of commuters with and without smartphones
● The interface should have a strong focus on UX, intuitive and centred around the day-to-day needs and experience of highway users.

The interface can also operate as a platform through which multiple existing private and public applications can link to such as NH’s toll free number, toll management system etc or travel related apps (MapMyIndia, Google Maps etc) which already have a high user-base. The platform should leverage strengths of existing IT applications and not reinvent where necessary.

The design should cater to all kinds of NH users such as:
● Commercial (trucking etc) who may or may not have a smartphone and a user design which caters to their needs
● Personal long-distance commuter which may not be as frequent but may have access to smartphones
● Local residents who live around the highways and use it more frequently than private long distance commuters

Submissions to this can be in the form of app mock-ups/ prototypes, presentations, concept notes on platform and other interfaces, list of desired features by commuters etc.

Tha last date of submission of ideas is 15th June 2022.

There are two types of Highway travellers 1. Guys like truckers who keep travelling 2. Periodic / occasional travelers A NHAI app is good for regular travelers for others you should provide link through Umang Umang is not yet widely used due to multiplicity of apps by different Departments . There is a need to find a solution to it

Cont'd---For newer EVs terrain decides milage and battery capacity. Although there's a onboard computation going on the vehicle for the milage. What's missing is terrain uphill or downhill which is not known to the driver. This needs to be scientifically understood for type of vehicle, speed, loads, road, traffic conditions also important factor to avoid traffic congestion by understanding from toll scanners, mobile towers or changing bar code to feed a particular information to the vehicle scanners to adjust to traffic conditions. Along with this lots of commercial information like food, services, helpline available could be made available by press of a button. With all types of features there will be overall savings for the nation on fuel, Drivers will have comfort in driving long distances. This is an imaginary concept needs to be evolved with technology & techniques.

We have created Navik app similar to Google maps in local languages. We need to support make it more user friendly. With changing world politics need to be independent. What comes to my mind is providing large bar code tiles on highways & scanners on vehicles. The idea is to pin point navigation. At present we have bar code for scanning at toll. This new concept could be useful with user friendly software.New generation vehicles have MPFI for fuel injection if these parameters could be connected to a hardware on the vehicle which will recognize the terrain once it passes the bar code and can decide optimum fuel for the road ahead to conserve at optimum speeds. The user also will know the health of the engine. For newer EVs terrain decides milage and battery capacity. Although there's a onboard computation going on the vehicle for the milage. What's missing is terrain uphill or downhill which is not known to the driver. This needs to be scientifically understood for type of cont'd --

Respected PM JI,#NHAI needs broad ways extending them to 8 lines where ever it necessary by side one should have walk way & cycle track & plant trees 🌲 throughout both sides of Roads keep water 💦 for every 1 or 2 kms water pipelines should be there & roads with CC cameras & statillite live recording & Giving traffic alerts to vehicles through Offline/Online modes.speed limits/crossing roads must have speed breakers & high alert to cross a road or U Truns & entering on roads after fuel/electric charge points they should & must have speed breakers in the same direction.every vehicle should have a # NHAI uniform code that can alert 🚨 highway vehicle system before a destination one vehicle entered on NHAI they have to Preregister there program from where to where they are moving online/offline/SMS mode. By this way how many vehicles are moving to one destination to another can be easily identified by transport department officials if lyou like My idea plz give me a Prize. Thanking you.
