The facebook idea of nomination of people for clean India, as per my view, is not a great one. For a clean India, first and foremost is to motivate people to reduce and reuse stuffs. Next, we must introduce multiple pocket dustbins so that segregation at source can happen. Thirdly, we need to have outlets in every lane which would accept all kinds of old materials (in line with old newspapers); also waste to energy units need to be there in big institutional/industrial campuses.

Overcoming the social norms and cultural barriers is one of the biggest hurdle in ending manual scavenging. As long as there is "demand" for manual scavenging there will be supply of people willing to do it. The demand arise due to lack of flush toilets, preferring dry pits/ open fields, lack of resources/machinery to remove the night soil etc. The following article in Indian express about Badaun district exemplifies these challenges http://goo.gl/wGim4r

The following points are the constraints in Eliminating Manual Scavenging. 1) Non-Availability of the well-Designed waste Bins (Fiber made-For Individual Big Houses & roadside) which can be hydraulically Auto-collected by the Mechanized scavenging trucks. 2) Non-Availability of the well-Designed waste Bins (for Community-Metal make) which can be hydraulically Auto-collected by the Mechanized scavenging trucks. 3) Once these bins are available people can be made to use them.

Education is the best tool that can help in this regard.special seminars at school level being conducted by staff.secondly proper facility should be provided for lifting of daily home waste.at last in India punishment is mandatory for effective implementation so at public places there should be punishment

Respected Sir, i have views on e-waste hazards on scavengers. E-waste has huge health impact on these people. To prevent this, we can develop a market for collection of E-waste, just like there is for collection of read newspapers by kabadi-walas. E-waste collection can be done seperatly, which will increase jobs and at the same time prevent health hazards. Awareness can be made regarding not to dispose off e-waste at an improper place. I would like to be a part of such programme of GOI.

Why should you care about clearing litter on roads? Govt spends crores of tax payer money to pick up the trash throw down on the ground. Thousands of miles are driven each year picking up litter in our state. Think about all the petrol that is needed to fuel trucks for litter pick up. Large % of all littered items end up in our streams and waterways as pollution. Govt should make trash cans mandatory in all passenger vehicles.. jai Hind!! http://www.lighthousecarbin.com/abouttheproduct.html
