We should remove caste based reservations and impose disability based reservations and family-income based reservations !! this would help in equal employment opportunities!

Enhanced skills of the specially abled people should be employed. E.g. a blind men have a very enhanced sense of touch, sound and smell. One example of such job is that of a taster. In India tea taster and sometimes wine tasters are required which is a very high paying job. another example is in Auto industry an NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) check is conducted where highly trained people check for very minor noises inside the car. Instead of sympathy their real skills must be identified.

These special schools should be opened at district headquarters with easy accessibility to medical facilities and should be preferably residential types. The fees should be nominal and more emphasis to be laid on vocational education to make them self-reliant. Especially in the paramilitary forces, the jawans are forced to leave behind such children as frequent posting/ transfers make it difficult for them to manage such specially abled children.

As a Pediatrician, I have come across many mentally and physically challenged children who are denied the basic rights of education because of poor facilities/ resources in our country and also because many families find it difficult to support them financially. If every PHC/ CHC / dist hosp maintain a registry of these children they can be classified into groups and accordingly sent to the special schools.
