connect every village with electric toy railways, on the lines of metro, with city head quarters. it will give hassel free and quick transportation to farmers growing fruits and vegetables. establish purchase centres at every district HQ, therefrom fruits and vegetables can be sent to larger cities where demand arises.

Sir, for reducing post harvest losses in supply chain of fruits and vegetables can be done by moving mobile cold stores. These stores can collect fruits and vegetables directly from the villages or approachable places and bring them to market without perishing the goods. This will save time and money both.

In Uttarakhand, people don't take vegetable production because they don't get early market. What ever is produced is for personal use, at the most for local markets. If we want to increase the production of fruit and vegetables we have to provide access to big markets. If the Govt. provides helicopter services for lifting of vegetables and fruits, people will produce more and more crops. During the monsoon the situation become more horrible when the apple fruit have to be thrown due to road bloc

The perishable items when rotten can be used for making wine. No part should go waste, even the rotten pieces should give us some money.

Post Harvest Losses can be avoided by providing market to produce as early as possible. This can be done by identifying the areas of production of crops and vegetables which are perishable items and lift them directly by helicopters to the far of markets. Secondly establishing the chain of Cold Stores can also reduce the post harvest losses. Thirdly item price should be fixed promoted through catalougue to the harvesters, so that they don't bargain and sell their crop immediately.

Two ways of developing systems that can reduce perishing of fruits and vegetables produce are to be seen. 1.If we accept FDI in retail they shall bring in chiller Trucks to cold storage along with supply chain development. 2.If we don't accept it then we have a system of building cold storage & should be given to entrepreneur who shall run it for profit. It will be under PPP schemes. Apart from theses two there seems to be no other option right now.

Adopt foreign policies on the issue like only freezer based lorries should be transporting fruits and vegetables. That would really help in reducing the wastage and the time limits to get the vehicle at the destination be reduced and strict orders be provided to follow a particular road(main roads) where time can be saved. Maybe increase the fares a bit for the hardwork that they have to put in but that would be useful in reducing the wastages

This could be reduced by developing low cost chain of Cold storage on surplus land of govt organisations and by farmers groups. Also motivate farmers to produce quality products which can find market in India and abroad. many innovations are lying in agri colleges which can reduce wastages but do not reach farmers due to lack of marketing and economy of scale. Give impetus to Indian technology.

We should build infrastructure to accommodate fruits & vegetables. And bring good management to supply chain not a filthy planning commission.
