FDI - Germany's ALDI & LIDL retail supermarkets do sell very cheap fruits & vegetables (including many other items such as 500 g strawberry Jam cost in uk store only 29 Rs....cheaper than India..!) https://www.aldi.co.uk/
Ask them to invest in supply chain of fruits & vegetables - opening of small window initially as our beloved PM have said when he talks FDI in retail - humble suggestion from his own core constituency - Maninagar..

1. Development solar powered cold storage facilities.
2. Design and establishment of mini-processing plants in rural ares wherever demand (intensive production) is more.
3.Development of value added products employing combination of fruits and vegetables.
4. Increasing transportation facilities especially in remote areas.
5. Price fixation and development of infrastructure for marketing.
The implementation of above ideas can prevent post harvest losses, especially of glut produce.

Today the major portion of the loss due to the lack of proper storage facility to our farmers. If the Govt. with private and the local farmers participation be able to create a proper storage facility for the fruits and other perishable vegetables in every Taluk HQ the loss can be minimized and over the period this will be nil.

Make proper refrigeration facilities for the farmers where they can preserve the fruits and vegetables. As far as I know all the developed countries have this very good option, and thus their is no inflation or deflation. In India it so happens that the middlemen cause these inflation and deflation by earning lots of money, while neither the grower(farmer) or the consumer is benefited.

sir/madam, There is much scope to establish more sabjimandis in country. Farmers should be allowed to sell their products from village to village. cold storage and packaging facility must be promoted. Better transport and Online selling of fruits should be focused.

1. Eliminate middle men.
2. Cold storage at panchayat level through PPP model.
3. A system to be developed which can take care of small farmers who sell their fruits and vegetables road side as it contributes more in wastage.
4. Sabji mandis with cold storage facility can be established at a regular distance which will eliminate the road side stalls.
5. Private players can be allowed to develop supply chain and deliver the products at customers door step and may charge a premium.
