India is the World’s second largest producer of Fruits & Vegetables. However, the processing of perishable products in our country is very low, in comparison to the developed countries or developing countries like China, Brazil, Malaysia, Vietnam, etc. One of the main constraints in the growth of processing of fruits & vegetables in the country is non-availability of modern and suitable infrastructure with efficient supply Chain. Consequently, there is very high level of wastage of the fruits & vegetables in the country resulting in the farmer not getting adequate remuneration for his yield. A study conducted by Central Institute of Post Harvesting Engineering Technology (CIPHET), Ludhiana, an ICAR institute, reveals that wastage in various agricultural crops in the country range from 6-18% and the highest loss has been shown in fruits and vegetables.

Ministry of Food processing Industries invites views/ suggestions for reduction of these losses.

Last date for sending your suggestions is 1st February 2015.

4. Farmers should be provided facility to online trade their goods and should not be asked to bring their produce to APMC. 5. APMC should be restructured allowing farmers to sell their goods directly to end consumers. 6. Agriculture ministries in state govt should run programs to educate farmers on use of technology to reduce cost of increasing shelf life of fruits and vegetables.

Some of suggestions are 1. State governments should empower zilla parishads to build a robust network of cold storage warehouses in the districts having farmers growing fruits and vegetables. 2. In these villages where farmers grow fruits and vegetables, village panchayats should operate refrigerated transport vehicles to carry items to markets. 3. Cold storage and refrigerated transport model provided can be made sustainable by charging farmers for using the facilities.

please give exemption for COLD STORAGE FACILITES IN REMOTE AREAS, AND CURRENT SPECIAL PRICES TO KEEP THE STOCKS IN THE COLD STORAGE FOR THE COOPERATIVE SOCITIES AND INCOME TAX EXEMPTION TO THE COLD STORAGE BUILT UP IN THE VILLAGES AND SMALL TOWNS NOT IN THE CITIES Free permissions to set up selling stores in major cities even for the traders to sell only the agriculture produce and not finished products .

best way is use of technology.. make all APMC's online so that we can know how much food is sent across and where is the scarcity or excess.. 2. have more cold chains either in APMC or food parks across all states in next 4 yrs.. 2 each in each state..3. all qty of goods should be uploaded via software to the central server in delhi so that in each state we know what is scarce and what is excess and decisions can be taken..4.give smart cards to all traders in all APMC's. Use GPS at FCI & APMC..

Nowadays space is very expensive. If neglected govt offices and lands are utilized, new career centres can be set up. We have to select entrepreneurs to train people to do useful things that will meet people's need and reduce unemployment. Govt must contact people who are willing to contribute to nation building.

Use technologies for supply chain management of all the vegetables. Set up a body 'Price Monitoring Group' which will monitor price patterns and supply and demand bottlenecks. The group shall act as a regulator which controls inflation of 3-5% per annum so that both the stakeholders i.e farmers and households will benefit. This system will suggest supply chains and sadds storage capacities for natuaral produce and evacuation of excess and deploying to the needy regions. Jai Hind.

Govt to create an agency which will carry out demand and supply survey . on the basis of survey farmer will raise crop to earn maximum from local markets

some farmer pack proper but in not use paper or some smooth product so in transportation pressure on fruits and vegetables if paper or smooth product use for packing in bags on transportation than no harvest losses of fruits and vegetables.
