Overview:-

The Internet of Things (IoT) can transform the agriculture industry and enable farmers to contend with the enormous challenges they face. The industry must overcome increasing water shortages, limited availability of lands, fertility of lands difficult to manage cost, while meeting the increasing consumption needs of a global population that is expected to grow by 70% by 2050.

Objective:-

New innovative IoT applications will address these issues and help in increasing the quality, quantity, sustainability and cost effectiveness of agricultural production. For example, leverage IoT can be leveraged to allow the farmers to evaluate the soil conditions, moisture level, livestock feed levels density and level of pest control. say if the level of pest control exceeds prescribed range, through sensors alarm and alerts can be generated to warn the farmers to take actions.

The purpose of “Smart Farming” is to increase the quality and quantity of agricultural production by using sensing technology to make farmers more intelligent and more connected.

With the help of this discussion platform we request you to share your valuable inputs on:

• How an individual or an organization may contribute to Smart Farming.
• Experiences and challenges in using technology as a tool in farming.
• Practical/workable solutions for complete imposition of the future of farming- “Smart Farming” using IoT

TECHNOLOGY DISSEMINATION Farmers are still using age old practices due to various reasons....they need govt support in the form of getting subsidies in investing larger technical tools, lack of good field doctors their disposal, lack of credit supply, due to their risk avoiding nature in applying new methods etc.. They need certified seeds and information at their disposal in this technology can play key role. Good quality extension services are needed Need to develop farmer chat rooms

Challenges...... 1.WATER.... A.type of farming practice should be aligned to agroclimatic region eg.water guzzing farming should not be allowed in dry lands. B.use of better irrigation methods like dip irrigation C.reuse of used water D.incresing efficiency of water usage by removing free electricity,by employing water metering system eg. China uses water 40 percent more efficiently and getting 40 percent productivity than us

Dearsir There is a product Pusa Hydrogel invented by ICAR,Pusa,New Delhi for reduction of 40% water use in crops. If any crop needs 5 cycle of water for full production after use of Hydrogel it will come in 3 cycle of water. My suggestion is that as we are giving seeds and fertilizer to farmers on subsidiary rates and for bpl n poor its free we can compulsorily give HYDROGEL to farmers of Bundelkhand of Madhya Pradesh. Water crisis are v high in this region. So Hydrogel will help them to save

Smart farming..... Using technology to improve production and productivity by 1better application of production processes like use of fertilizers, use of irrigation methods, checking sool health 2.monitoring health of plants and livestock in real time and diagnosing disease by bringing technology from lab to farm 3.sensing threats well before and disseminate information regarting meterological threats like drought floods The ultimate aim is to develop agriculture sustainably by meeting needs

RECENTLY I VISITED DWARKA AND SOMNATH. AREA AROUND SOMNATH IS HAVING LARGE COCONUT PLANTATION SO DENSE THAT SUN RAYS CANNOT REACH EARTH IN NOON TIME THUS SVAING SOIL MOISTURE AND REDUCING EVAPORATION / TEMP MODERATION. AREA AROUND DWARKA IS DEVOID OF COCONUT / TREE PLANTATION. THEY ARE IMPORTING COCONUTS FROM SOMNATH FOR CONSUMPTION. LARGE AREAS AROUND DWARKA CAN BE USED FOR COCONUT PLANTATION MAKING AREA PLEASENT.

Sir "bund-less" i mean- removing bunds and making a large units,in square or rectangular size, wherein mechanised agriculture and other modern technologies like drip-irrigation,green house farming etc.can be profitablly adopted.

Hon. PM Sir, In Agriculture sector we have all(eg.all inputs, soil health card,audio-video communications, tool free number 1551,agro-climatic divisions, loans, insurance etc. etc..) requirements but for proper management. Can we run agriculture as a "Company" in which local youths are employed at differant levels and small land holders pooling their holdings (as we pool money in shares)which will facilitate bund-less farming ?The annual dividend will be the farmers' income!
