Overview:-

The Internet of Things (IoT) can transform the agriculture industry and enable farmers to contend with the enormous challenges they face. The industry must overcome increasing water shortages, limited availability of lands, fertility of lands difficult to manage cost, while meeting the increasing consumption needs of a global population that is expected to grow by 70% by 2050.

Objective:-

New innovative IoT applications will address these issues and help in increasing the quality, quantity, sustainability and cost effectiveness of agricultural production. For example, leverage IoT can be leveraged to allow the farmers to evaluate the soil conditions, moisture level, livestock feed levels density and level of pest control. say if the level of pest control exceeds prescribed range, through sensors alarm and alerts can be generated to warn the farmers to take actions.

The purpose of “Smart Farming” is to increase the quality and quantity of agricultural production by using sensing technology to make farmers more intelligent and more connected.

With the help of this discussion platform we request you to share your valuable inputs on:

• How an individual or an organization may contribute to Smart Farming.
• Experiences and challenges in using technology as a tool in farming.
• Practical/workable solutions for complete imposition of the future of farming- “Smart Farming” using IoT

2.Land Moisturizing – courtesy Mr. R.K. Nair (Retd. Research Engineer based in Pallikarnai, Chennai): A 300 mm dia hole can be bored manually or using machine. Depth of bore 1500 mm. An RC Slab with a central hole dia 60 mm and a protruding lip 20 mm thick on the down side should cover the drilled bore. 400x400 mm slab with 40 mm thickness and 6 mm steel reinforcement will be adequate to support the slab in wet conditions and protect steel from corrosion. Bore will be self supporting.

If I sell agri product, price become very low. If I buy the same product the price is very high. I don't understand why the margins are so high for the traders, but not for the farmers.

On the out skirts of cluster of villages there can be co-operative marketing set up and no need for farmers to go to city or APMC yards for selling their farm produce, with increase of road transport and peoples mobility can purchase directly from the farmers at a much cheaper rates. so that get direct customers for their farm produce, simply growing more is not beneficial for them , they all need realisation of their labor in terms of money.

use of SUPER ABSORBENT POLYMER,(SAP) IMPREGNATED WITH MICRO NUTRIENTS, AND MINERALS LIKE COPPER, ZINC, MAGNESIUM, PHOSPHORUS, POTASH ETC. WILL REDUCE THE WATER AND FERTILIZERS WASTAGE, CONSUMPTION. FROM SUCH SAP IMPREGNATED WITH ABOVE LISTED MINERALS AND NUTRIENTS GETS SLOWLY RELEASED IN THE SOIL AND ALL THESE MINERALS EDTA SALTS ARE WATER SOLUBLE, SO ALONGWITH WATER IT DIRECTLY GOES IN THE SOIL.PROVIDES BETTER AND MOST EFFECTIVE GROWTH, MORE YIELD OF ANY CROP, VEGETABLES, FRUITS.

agri banking and agri storage and e commerce for agri produce will complete the cycle of farm produce and farm produce consumption without much wastage. This must be given a push. we cannot ask farmer to all the three portfolio which may result in lower price, loss of goods. and loss to bank and many other issues.
