Overview:-

The Internet of Things (IoT) can transform the agriculture industry and enable farmers to contend with the enormous challenges they face. The industry must overcome increasing water shortages, limited availability of lands, fertility of lands difficult to manage cost, while meeting the increasing consumption needs of a global population that is expected to grow by 70% by 2050.

Objective:-

New innovative IoT applications will address these issues and help in increasing the quality, quantity, sustainability and cost effectiveness of agricultural production. For example, leverage IoT can be leveraged to allow the farmers to evaluate the soil conditions, moisture level, livestock feed levels density and level of pest control. say if the level of pest control exceeds prescribed range, through sensors alarm and alerts can be generated to warn the farmers to take actions.

The purpose of “Smart Farming” is to increase the quality and quantity of agricultural production by using sensing technology to make farmers more intelligent and more connected.

With the help of this discussion platform we request you to share your valuable inputs on:

• How an individual or an organization may contribute to Smart Farming.
• Experiences and challenges in using technology as a tool in farming.
• Practical/workable solutions for complete imposition of the future of farming- “Smart Farming” using IoT

Agriculture resources on every states depended from local availabities ,payment.agent are still not reliable ,middle man expoliting layman farmers ultimating no rewards for his products.Marketing through farmers group directly under govt is only hope. wheat prices are still not stander to get marginal profit, fruits like mangoes, need special transport to reach urban demands , so farmers profita must depends from Govt directly ,Bank and transport too.

Preservation of farm produce is a big challenge to farmers specially of fruit & vegetables. Cold storage / facility for preservation should be created in villages. This will ensure better return on the farm products to farmers and hence farming becomes sustainable. At the same time, consumers shall get fresh vegetables and frits at a reasonable prce.

Urban Farming also must add water recharging pits and ponds . All barren lands in urban areas shall be used to collect water during rainy days which are let out of the houses and avoids Urban flooding. Overflows from these ponds shall be connected to neighbouring lakes. Chennai witnessed a huge flooding because all the water from the building goes to streets and there are no soil and ponds to percolate. All apartment buildings shall have small water recharging open ground .

#SmartFarming Completely shift to organic farming. At cities, small towns or villages emphasis on segregation of biodegradable wastes at household only. Collect all of them to convert into bio-fertiliser. Use this only to fertilise the land. This will solve the problem of waste management as a byproduct also. Let us have specific agencies to do this. Local youths will also get employment.

Smart means less effort / input and more profit, using knowledge & skill. I have done one thing like that growing 25000 trees in my dry land, without irrigation & fertilizer but sheep grazes weed and manures my trees. But GOI does not facilitate selling my Red Sanders trees by keeping old laws, not understanding international intention of greening globe. So, need a "Farmland Timber Tree development Board / Ministry" to remove the hurdles and facilitate tree growing as Modiji is saying

Concentrate on co-operative farming. (1)Create co-operative society based on companies. (2)Member of society will be farmers, run by professional. (3)Shareholding of society will be decided on amount of land contributed by farmers. (4)Distribut farm produce& profit on the basis of share owned by farmers. Benefit (1)Large number of worker will be freed from agriculture sector for industry. (2)Land acquisition problem will be solved up to large extent. (3)Farming can be done on large land.

Roof farming in urban areas will give us organic vegetables . Also we need organic manure for them . Cattle recycle our urban Vegetable waste to great extent and gives milk and cowdung . These Cowdung will circulate as manure for the same area roof top farms. Each pincode of a city shall have a small Cattle farm organised by NGO or people of the society. This increases employment of Urban poor, reduces organic garbage (waste) as they are recycled by cattle as organic manure to organic vegetables
