Overview:-

The Internet of Things (IoT) can transform the agriculture industry and enable farmers to contend with the enormous challenges they face. The industry must overcome increasing water shortages, limited availability of lands, fertility of lands difficult to manage cost, while meeting the increasing consumption needs of a global population that is expected to grow by 70% by 2050.

Objective:-

New innovative IoT applications will address these issues and help in increasing the quality, quantity, sustainability and cost effectiveness of agricultural production. For example, leverage IoT can be leveraged to allow the farmers to evaluate the soil conditions, moisture level, livestock feed levels density and level of pest control. say if the level of pest control exceeds prescribed range, through sensors alarm and alerts can be generated to warn the farmers to take actions.

The purpose of “Smart Farming” is to increase the quality and quantity of agricultural production by using sensing technology to make farmers more intelligent and more connected.

With the help of this discussion platform we request you to share your valuable inputs on:

• How an individual or an organization may contribute to Smart Farming.
• Experiences and challenges in using technology as a tool in farming.
• Practical/workable solutions for complete imposition of the future of farming- “Smart Farming” using IoT

LET US GO FOR 100% ETHANOL BASED FUEL WAVE IN INDIA I feel that as an alternative fuel we should go with sugarcane based ethanol fuel. Because as quickly we proceed in this regard we will be self sufficient in this field and can save a lot of foreign currency. We will be less dependent on the other country for petroleum products. In earlier government they have discouraged the promoters of alternative fuel, for which a lot of people suffered the loss. We hope now that will be solved.

Now a days due to limited availability of land we should think about united farming along with multi-storey farms. Due to this concept we can do optimum utilization of land. By uniting small farms into 1 big farm we can have more effective farming and productions

Fish for food security and National security in one shot. Our vast 'Exclusive Economic Zone' is unexploited yet for its fish farming potential. We should encourage our corporate bodies, with clear cut policies to invest and develop a chain of 'Open Sea Cage farms' like a necklace around the subcontinent. Those platforms would double up as cheap fish production points and as our extended permanent 'Defense posts' in the deep sea difficult to penetrate by Anti-national elements.

We have abundant land but under utilised. In Urban areas, other than rooftop and terraces, joint pool of land between buildings can be identified for group urban farming. every 3to 4 apartment complex can shell out a common area between them and indulge in group farming. This land pool also serves as ground water recharging space which again helps in increasing the ground water table of that area. Also children gets the idea of farming, while we get Organic vegetables and a good workout exercise

Urban farming on terraces is a neccessity. Children will get exposure to nature. Most urban population living in buildings with terraces are educated. They will take this up as they know its importance. So convenient, ready to water "packages" ( pot with appropriate fertilised soil must be offered for sale ( developed by Agri. Universities ) such that the buyer has to place the pot in the sun and water the specified quantity. Many vegetables can be organically grown there.

I am an Agriculture PhD student. I have an idea to design a Direct to Farm (DTF) communication, which is similar to Direct to Home (DTH) services. It means a GIS based plate farm which will combine every things ( e.g. DD Kisan, call service, farming app & application, Kisan ID, bank loan info) related to agriculture.

Warning/Do it now or it will be too late/looking ahead in to the feature:Because of global warming we are going to have no rain for 3 years and all 3 years rain will pour in one day.So deepen all dams/lakes/ponds/canals/rivers to 100 to 200 feet depth and store water.Use solar pump to raise it for irrigation and other uses.
