For delivering various Citizen centric services and furthering the reach of Financial Services including Insurance, the Government of India has set up a Task Force to examine and recommend efficient utilisation and upgradation of the Post Office Network, enabled with Digital/Internet Connectivity to rural Offices and outpost areas enabling reach of different services in rural areas. This Network is also being viewed as a distribution channel to retail various schemes and services of Central Government, State Government and Private Sector Players.

Through this discussion the Department of Posts (Ministry of Communications & Information Technology) seeks suggestions on the following:

•    To provide efficient postal network and points of presence [particularly in rural areas and small towns] to Central Government Ministries / Departments, State Governments [including Local Self Government] and private sector players for delivering various citizen-centric services, scheme, products to the people.
•    To further the role of Post Offices in Financial inclusion, including Insurance products
•    The infrastructure requirements of the Post Offices and the Postal Network
•    To make the Post Offices financially viable

It would be a great idea to give Post Office bank license, as it has an outreach. Govt should convert it into company and issue shares to public for modernization cost & ATM facility. I think it should act as an agent of LIC to cover risk of all citizens not for Govt employees alone. Speed Post facility should be made available from all places. Post office employees are not acquainted with computer, one should provide computer education. Recruitment should be made from IBPS to remove corruption.

The most challenging thing India needs is crime free environment, law and order, quick services, citizens discipline in traffic, offices, queues. For traffic we should start lane system and enforced speed limits as in developed countries.

Since very large network is available , aadhar services can be entrusted to post offices, so that accountability can be fixed. In the present out sourcing system ,no accountability, perfection .

Heard abt "SwankyPost-Offices,SwankyRly Stations" past 3-decades; no concrete action by the atrophied elephantine Cong. AP-Gov set up in 2000 an e-Gov Centre near Patney Post-Office in Secbad (AP) 4Bijli Bills. Later, more progressive attempts hv bn made by Govt K'rnataka e-GovServiceCentres@BDAComplexes (HSR Layout), @Koramangala BDA 4 Bijli, HouseTax. Such attempts 're truncated~disjointed, insisted on too much doc formalities.MIn of Communications (P&T Dept) shd steer clear develop

1. I have an idea for quick delivery of letters so to increase the efficiency of the post office. It goes as below - Nowadays - there is an internet facility available in most of the offices - atleast I can see them in taluka levels at Maharashtra.so assign an email address to every post office.c.A person who wants to send a letter - will come in the post office , dictate the message to be sent.email is sent to recipent post and office it will print deliver letter via postman.

Post offices is present in remotest corners of the country. Its spread could be used by SBI to install ATM's. Security and workforce is readily available. This would help Labourer's right across the country far away from their homes remit cash without middle men (who take a sizable amount) for the service and prevent Hawala Transfers, besides bringing them into the system.

Also, there is the lethargic attitude of postman in delivering the letters. I think writing the mobile number should be made compulsory on adress column, and instead of postman deliverig the letter, He should gove call to the concern person, and the person should himself collect it from the post office. This will enable us to use the manpower of post-man in somewhere else.

We have post office network spread all over India. It is in the reach of every one. With the growing e-retail, I think Post office should also enter into this servcie, and let the rural India enjoy the advantage of e-retail. They should also start delivering the courier of flipkart and amazon

Sbse bdi cheez h accountability. Agr koi letter timely nhi pahuchta h toh zimmedar karmchari k uper disciplinary action liya jana chahiye. agar aisa ho payega toh abhi bhi log private courier service provider ki tulna me bhartiya daak ko prathmikta denge.
