Post office must work on its core job of delivery posts in time and to persons home. At this moment they deliver post many times more than 15days to 1 month delay and that too thrown anywhere. Many of the posts are not received at all. I had to stop subscribing to periodicals because I receive only 50% of them.
The postal network is huge and can give any courier company's a big challenge if they work on their core competency area rather than working on different areas like banking, gold etc.

Being a Government Organisation Most of the schemes are not implemented in a correct manner. For example if Booking of Money order is ebased, the software is not online module it is the combination of Online and Offline so at any end if technology fails results in customer dissatisfaction...No Proper training before implementation...Poor hardware support...Poor infrastructure even no toilet facilities...Human resource not properly managed..

Lack of Adequate technlogy to meet the latest trends pulls back the Post Office down,Implementation of Any products needs to reach each and every corner of the staff.Uniform Working procedure is needed.Even though Post offices are Computerised there is no use simply needs to maintain the paper work like manual works, because the usage of Softwares and Systems is not user friendly and is not in a common software platform. So many Softwares are handed by the officials.Nearly 12 to 15 softwares

Post Office be converted to Logistics Centers for e-retailers like Flipkart and amazon. Pension be distributed through Post Offices. Armed Force Personnel families survives on Postal Money Orders and Letter posted to the Front. This should be speedy exercise. India Post must be leveraged for all Govt Schemes benefits. Letter Writing habits must be re-energized and re-introduced for younger generations. There should Postal Card for every citizen like Pan Card as identity proof.

Excellent topic! Postal services could become financially viable by becoming a backbone support to the growing and promising ecommerce industry. improve reliability, deliverability of address, and online package tracking for online shoppers. ecommerce's next big growth comes from smaller cities and towns where India Post could offer cost effective solution. To increase profitability per sq. ft. consider selling other products such as mobile topups, sim cards etc. through post office network.

For competing with 'Courier agencies-a)Keep post offices open till 8.00pm or give frachasis to the same shops who accept documents from courier. Give them some commision.Post offices have excellent reach and network. If properly organised , it can compete with courier agencies.
Also appoint un employed youth for distributing the courier.

Spend a fair amount to promote the monetary schemes in Post Offices. Track the ponzi scheme agents who have become a victim in the Saradha scam and such other scams. Train and use them for the promotion.
