For delivering various Citizen centric services and furthering the reach of Financial Services including Insurance, the Government of India has set up a Task Force to examine and recommend efficient utilisation and upgradation of the Post Office Network, enabled with Digital/Internet Connectivity to rural Offices and outpost areas enabling reach of different services in rural areas. This Network is also being viewed as a distribution channel to retail various schemes and services of Central Government, State Government and Private Sector Players.

Through this discussion the Department of Posts (Ministry of Communications & Information Technology) seeks suggestions on the following:

•    To provide efficient postal network and points of presence [particularly in rural areas and small towns] to Central Government Ministries / Departments, State Governments [including Local Self Government] and private sector players for delivering various citizen-centric services, scheme, products to the people.
•    To further the role of Post Offices in Financial inclusion, including Insurance products
•    The infrastructure requirements of the Post Offices and the Postal Network
•    To make the Post Offices financially viable

Last date for sending your suggestions is 30th November, 2014.

Post offices may be used to facilitate the govt. schemes in remote areas by launching them itself / making aware to the scheme(s). It may be used as the hub of financial activities of the village. It may provide all modes of communications using BSNL like phone and internet. It may act as the cyber hub for villages. There may be connection for charging the cell phones for just cost of the electricity used. It must be provided with uninterrupted power supply.

In terms of the Rural reach, Post office is one of the largest. We can think of starting the following services at the Post Offices: 1. Free access of Internet for Educational and Citizen Services 2. E-Library or Physical library depending on the space available in the Post Office to cater to the students of the remote locations. 3. Literature related to all the Citizen Welfare Programmes and Citizen Rights

In order to make viable post office can accept all payment of Local tax like property,water & Elecricity bill with a minimum charge like in Tamil nadu. It can also have tie-up with state transport corpns to extent courier service/speed post to cover all villages which is not operated by private courier co.

We should use the post office network to provide the banking facilities to Indians that would be of great help for distance villages. Also this can be used as means of Education centre for the kids.

I think people are unaware of the great facilities and policies of post office advertise its policies and benefits through electronic or other media so that a common man can avail its facilities.

first we shall improve visibility and ambiance of post offices make reachable with equipped of all facility i want to do speed post first i have to ask where is post offices then when i reached the man reply no power so can not do and this happen in Ghaziabad at district level in NCR now you can understand what will be condition in rural araes, So change the face & improve Visibility may be work till 10 PM so that after office hrs people can use

भारतीय डाकघरों में संस्था व कंपनी के SB खाते खुलने चाहिए भारत व राज्य सरकार विभिन्न योजना के बैंक चेक गरीब जनता को देती है और गरीब जनता का बैंको तक पहुंच नहीं है हर गाँव में बैंक नहीं है तथा हर गाँव में पोस्टऑफिस है इसलिए लोग व्यक्तिगत SB खाते तो डाकघर में ही खुलवाते है लेकिन बैंक चेक होने के कारण महीनो समय चेक समाशोधन में लग जाता है तथा बैंक लाभ के उद्देश्य से कार्य करती है वो गरीबो का ध्यान नहीं रखती है साथ ही डाकघरों को ऋण देने का अधिकार होना चाहिए
