India is one of the leaders in sustainable development and clean energy. With the Hon PM Narendra Modi-led government’s reform-oriented, environment-friendly policies, the country has time & again shown that sound environmental policies can pave the way to a sound economy.

At the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in 2021, PM Shri Narendra Modi announced the ‘LiFE’, a mission to bring individual behavioural change at the forefront of the global climate action narrative. LIFE or Lifestyle for Environment along with the ‘Pro Planet People’ movement, aims to strengthen the efforts to overcome climate change.

LiFE will replace the prevailing 'use-and-throw’ thinking with an environmentally conscious lifestyle. The Mission is to create a global community of ‘Pro-Planet People’ (P3), who with their shared commitment will adopt and promote environmentally friendly lifestyles.

Individual Efforts Are Key to Climate Commitment

India's traditional knowledge strongly positions it to lead the narrative of addressing climate change. Like many other mass movements, LiFE aims to inspire climate action based on the mantra of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’.

MyGov invites you to share your ideas and suggestions on how to adapt to an environmentally conscious lifestyle.

1. Reduce
2. Reuse
3. Recycle
4. Renewable
5. Recover
6. Re-design
7. Re-manufacture

Few examples for the above:
Reduce - Electricity, Fuel Usage
Reuse - Old Clothes, Electronics, Building materials, furniture
Recycle - Plastic, newspapers, cartons, boxes
Renewable - Solar, Wind, Hydro, Tidal, Geothermal & Biomass
Recover - Forests, rivers, soil, mountains, wildlife
Redesign - Green buildings
Remanufacture - E-waste for new purposes

Our civilisational values have taught us the importance of living in harmony with nature. Today, let’s come together to protect our environment & take forward Mission LiFE - Lifestyle for Environment.

During winter months, I observed someone breaking off branches from live trees to burn as firewood. I stopped them. Why do some people need to kill healthy trees just to keep warm for one night? There are other ways to keep warm like wearing woolen clothes, consuming warm drinks etc.

Afforestation (planting trees where there were none earlier) and reforestation (replanting trees) is a good way to restore nature. The cooler weather would reduce electricity requirement. The dead biomass from the trees can be used to create biodegradable products.

LIFE- India must stop the rot of I /My god is the greatest and Not 1 Kaffur alive. This barbarism deserves death Life destroyer is propagating accidental birth continuity & seeing caste in everything ! reservations? which country other than India has dalit/OBC ? who is forcing dalits to do the chore. Open all the jobs for all.. Y shud there be any shame of earning honest bread. Life destroyer is making best the enemy of the better ! example look we adopted single use plastic 4 better life. If it was bad, it should not have been allowed for 50+ years now . Find ways of dealing with waste instead of killing it . ditto 4 industrialization . Find affordable alternatives . Can there be life without power, gas, telephone , road, rail, ports, air . Improve efficiency minimize use. Begin with MP/MLAs , tughlaq collegium giving up Hindu$ funded cars, a/c , bungalows. If u can't do it, Y shud tax payers Adopt home grown material 4 lasting construction- restore temple science/economy

Environmentally Sustainable Future 3. 2. Bioluminescence. When I was young I used to stay near by sea beach side, I used to see full of lights on shore and on water. I wondered what was it and found it's Bioluminescence which occurs widely in marine vertebrates and invertebrates, as well as in some fungi, microorganisms including some bioluminescent bacteria. Similar to the terrestrial arthropods such as fireflies. This can be also studied and taken into consideration for the sustainable future. Jai Hind 🇮🇳

Environmentally Sustainable Future 2. 1. Bioluminescence. Production and Emission of light by living organisms. If it's capacity is analysed, a country like us would largely benefit as we move towards sustainable future. We had this firefly naturally in our country but now it has slowly diminished. We need to look into for the future generations. Jai Hind 🇮🇳

R7- Re manufacture. We create electronic scrap as technology advances with time & life of the gadget. Scrap generally goes to scrap dealers who have zero knowledge of electronics. Electronic components are mass produced with stringent quality controls in the process. The reason being low price & the manufacturer cannot afford rejection in producing components. There are certain components like resistors, diodes, relays which have long life but gets rejected because of outdated ICs or circuitry. Our engineers need to apply mind to salvage if economical. De- soldered components might need certain arrangements to resolder. Also the value in terms of the design & residual life. For example a old PC will have mass produced power supply board and cooling systems. The system may be rejected due to memory & clock speed of the processor. The power supply could be used with constant voltage for LED lighting with suitable arrangement. Similarly some applications could be worked out for utilizing .
