India is one of the leaders in sustainable development and clean energy. With the Hon PM Narendra Modi-led government’s reform-oriented, environment-friendly policies, the country has time & again shown that sound environmental policies can pave the way to a sound economy.

At the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in 2021, PM Shri Narendra Modi announced the ‘LiFE’, a mission to bring individual behavioural change at the forefront of the global climate action narrative. LIFE or Lifestyle for Environment along with the ‘Pro Planet People’ movement, aims to strengthen the efforts to overcome climate change.

LiFE will replace the prevailing 'use-and-throw’ thinking with an environmentally conscious lifestyle. The Mission is to create a global community of ‘Pro-Planet People’ (P3), who with their shared commitment will adopt and promote environmentally friendly lifestyles.

Individual Efforts Are Key to Climate Commitment

India's traditional knowledge strongly positions it to lead the narrative of addressing climate change. Like many other mass movements, LiFE aims to inspire climate action based on the mantra of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’.

MyGov invites you to share your ideas and suggestions on how to adapt to an environmentally conscious lifestyle.

The Green life Make it.....Use it..... Scientific advances in water, desalination promise to edit the script "Water, water, everywhere, nor any drop to drink" into "every drop to drink," dramatically increasing our ability to transform sea water into fresh water and quench the thirst of 1.2 billion people facing shortages of water and can water millions of trees which are drooping down facing watering shortages. Today, desalination plants are used to convert sea water to drinking water on ships and to water the plants in many arid regions of the world.

Government should take steps to remove all encroachments across the lakes and river beds which is the reason for pollution. During summer season desilting work and deepening work has to be undertaken to increase the depth to store more water. Washing of clothes using soaps and detergents should be banned completely. In Tamilnadu many wash their clothes in all river beds and pollute the river. Doing mete campaign is not enough. Strict implementation of rule is important. Government should plan and allot a separate place for washerman and they should be allowed to wash clothes only there. Water collected after washing clothes should be sent to treatment plant and reused again. An awareness among washerman community to avoid using detergents and soaps and wash clothes in riverbed and lake bed has to be made across India. Strict action against the companies which lets out toxic chemicals and dyes into water bodies has to be taken and seal their company if they violate.
