The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, under the Sagarmala Programme, intends to create an ecosystem for the development of Ro-Ro (Roll-on, Roll-off) ferries and waterway transportation throughout the nation. When compared to traditional modes of transportation, this method of transportation offers a number of advantages, including shorter travel distances, cheaper logistics, and less pollution.

The draft guidelines aim to standardise and streamline the development and operation of ferry services, as well as, promote ease of doing business by reducing delays and conflicts, Additionally, guidelines will aid in boosting private players' confidence, hence expanding their involvement and encouraging healthy competition in such ventures.

The draft of Guidelines for Operationalization of Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax ferry service along the coast of India is issued for public consultation for seeking feedback and suggestions.

इस सेवा के शुरू होने से तटीय शिपिंग (Coastal Shipping) और तटीय पर्यटन (Coastal Tourism) के क्षेत्र में भी नई शुरूआत होगी।

भारत में अपनी तरह की इस पहली सेवा के पूरी तरह परिचालन में आने के बाद फेरी के माध्यम से एक बार में दो बंदरगाहों के बीच 100 वाहनों (कार, बसों और ट्रकों) और 250 यात्रियों तक को लाया-ले जाया जा सकेगा।

Sir, with the new labour laws woman may get restricted to work sir.I am not saying that government should withdraw the laws but in a society where woman are restricted to work for 6-7 hours a day as a teacher in schools/colleges then it will be very difficult for them to do jobs sir. Many times in India a lady is asked beforehand that she must not do job and must take care of home only many times even restricted to go out individually then there will be a huge pressure on the woman labourforce sir. Shopkeepers, construction workers, fish sellers etc. are some professions where women do work for 10-12hours but there people can't dare to stop them because of say poverty in their lives but how will the people treat them when they will be Engineer/doctor etc.their inlaws may put very huge burden on them.Govt. with very difficulty put women labourforce to work,by these laws they may get discouraged.I am not saying to withdraw laws but do some provisions in this view also.Iam not mysigonist.

You must have read the news in the paper “Konkan Railway has been overbooked with wait lists touching 1,000 in select trains”. Maharashtra state transport buses, Luxury private buses or other transport options could not solve the problem of Mumbai residents traveling in konkan coast line. Airline is the best option for those who are traveling to Goa, Sawantwadi etc. but destination in the midway can have luxurious option traveling by ro-pax ship overnight. Families can have lot of Funtime on ship. Keeping them away from hill roads (Ghat) in the night. They can carry their vehicles on ship and drive to their homes from seaport. Summer time to eat mango, cashew, jack fruit and much more can be worth traveling in Konkan.

Adding more to safety aspects in addition to previously mentioned point (2. From Safety point of view). Ex. A huge fire broke out in the cargo ship in Dubai Port on 01.07. The ship owned by an Indian carrying cars. PROBABLE REASON; these things happen when customer misdeclare the goods due to which everyone may have to suffer. (here all are involved, it can be customer, booking and accepting agent, or officials, there are still loopholes to make things happen to gain monetary benefits or bypass the procedures laid by Government to please someone for other benefits) SOLUTION; Strongly recommend that we need to raise bar & reinstate every one in process need to follow compliance. Unless there is a gap in acceptance procedures, these r not possible. 2. Electric cars are future, we need to see the safety when carried in waterways. IMPACT; 1.Millions goes into ashes. 2.Airways & Waterways are most vulnerable. 3.Safety issue cost in million, lives in huge numbers & environment
