The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, under the Sagarmala Programme, intends to create an ecosystem for the development of Ro-Ro (Roll-on, Roll-off) ferries and waterway transportation throughout the nation. When compared to traditional modes of transportation, this method of transportation offers a number of advantages, including shorter travel distances, cheaper logistics, and less pollution.

The draft guidelines aim to standardise and streamline the development and operation of ferry services, as well as, promote ease of doing business by reducing delays and conflicts, Additionally, guidelines will aid in boosting private players' confidence, hence expanding their involvement and encouraging healthy competition in such ventures.

The draft of Guidelines for Operationalization of Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax ferry service along the coast of India is issued for public consultation for seeking feedback and suggestions.

We should make our own cargo ship, which will be cost of low, in that private companies should also be given opportunity, which may come a revaluation.

It is better to engage some consultant for making these guidelines. TUV, DNV, BV, TEBODIN, SGS, are some consultancy companies available in India. None of them are Indian companies but nothing to worry this kind of jobs can be given no issue at all. IITs and NITs and top 5 colleges of all states (coastal states?) can also considered. In the pre-qualification of consultant, please check qualifications and experience of the people who are going to perform this job most importantly their port related experience, before adding the company to your approved vendors list.

Further to my comments 38. As majority of canal net work is passing thru/nearby villages/towns/cities, stringent regulations shall be incorporated so as to do not throw or dump rubbish. It will be an obstruction movement of vessels. 39. Similarly stringent regulations shall be incorporated so as to do not pollute . It will heavily hamper tourism.

Water way is a best and cheapest way to transporting goods from one place to other. 1 Infrastructure facility should be develop for promote water ways transportation. 2 River should be connect with each other for availability of water full year. 3 security should be given to ship and goods for trader safety. 4 water carrier should be develop for stay of ship for some time. 5 It should also be develop for attract tourist for promote business.

jai hind sir First of all it's a wonderful initiative. My only request is please make it a world class since inception. No commercialisation within 5km of ferry. All green norms should be followed. Basically policy should include everything so that again we should not make any further policy to tackle basic issues such as pollution, cleanliness etcetc. initially people may curse the system but in long term they will appreciate. It should be like any airport maintenance inside as well as outside till 5 to 10 kms. Let private players make money no problem but environment and people should be happy and healthy. jai hind
