The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, under the Sagarmala Programme, intends to create an ecosystem for the development of Ro-Ro (Roll-on, Roll-off) ferries and waterway transportation throughout the nation. When compared to traditional modes of transportation, this method of transportation offers a number of advantages, including shorter travel distances, cheaper logistics, and less pollution.

The draft guidelines aim to standardise and streamline the development and operation of ferry services, as well as, promote ease of doing business by reducing delays and conflicts, Additionally, guidelines will aid in boosting private players' confidence, hence expanding their involvement and encouraging healthy competition in such ventures.

The draft of Guidelines for Operationalization of Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax ferry service along the coast of India is issued for public consultation for seeking feedback and suggestions.

1)Have Cargo securing manual with inspection routines so ships follow it &ensure that cargo is stowed & secured before the ship leaves a berth. 2)Cargo should be so distributed that the ship has a good meta centric height. Large metacentric height could cause ship to roll violently in rough weather. 3)Place enforcement of speed limits of roro ships. 4)Ensure lashing teams-wear protective clothing, work in teams or in sight of each other, stand where visible to loading, use standardized whistle or hand signals, competent in lashing procedures. 5)Ensure adequate supply of securing gear in working conditions. 6)Ensure Inspect for buckling, cracks, deformation to avoid weak structures of roro ships.7)Ensure Inspect Ballast tanks for pitting corrosion & blister formation especially near bell mouth/suction wells associated with submerged pumps.8) Ensure inspect condition of tank gauging systems like pressure gauge, temperature gauge, etc.9)Frequently examine tank near hot engine room/oil

Use of Ro-Ro ferry service to speed up process of bridge construction throughout the country.Setting up coast or port based large manufacturing facilities for mass production with all modern equipments to build concrete bridge spans to the best design, assemble type to reduce length & weight,pre-stressed, highest quality. What is important is standardized spans for both road and railways. Also railway RCC slippers. These can reduce road movements of steel,cement & other materials.Quick lead time for projects on a reasonably big radius from coast line. The idea is to reach the destination through sea in small ships or barges. Even steel fabricated bridge spans or beams could be moved & placed with overhead beam or portable equipment . It's a concept to improve project time with ready quality pre fabricated items for taking advantage of energy requirements in transport through waterways. May need more thought process in making it successful.

this ferry waterways will it be seems good if tourism decoration point of view means outlet will be shown r ancient human civilization knowledge depth of sea in sea roads it's journey actually u know so in journey captured moment memorable may it will take couple of days if everything ready available with technology by research not by typical but informative & information should be converted in2 knowledge u know it's a grassroot means 2 say - sea land/floor anti social elements not to be given licences to operate the ferries each and every movable object to be tagged and unique id tagged and GPS tagged so that inadvertent straying beyond maritime borders and smuggling is prevented.

Spare ferries should be kept ready in case if there is any technical snag or any delay in arrival of ferry due to climate conditions like heavy rain, storm or rough sea. This will help to avoid delay in making alternative arrangement. Each ferry should have thorough check up and cleaning before it starts. Each ferry data should be with the maintenance team and updated every 6 hours. Whenever there is any technical problem it should be attended within 24 hours to ensure the safety. All ferries should be fitted with wireless communication system to inform the base. A sophisticated maintanence garage must be constructed to repair the damaged ferry. Passengers with less luggage should have a quick check in facility and board the ferry. A through security check must be done before allowing anyone inside the ferry before 30 minutes of the departure. This will prevent passengers carrying any banned items inside the ferry.
