During the year 2015-16, India spent Rs.4.82 lakh crores on imports to fulfill domestic demand. To reduce the import burden, and also to work towards to a greener environment, it is proposed to avoid usage of Petrol/Diesel for one day in a week.

Our Hon’ble Prime Minister has urged all citizens to avoid usage of Petrol/Diesel for one day in a week. He has said that if 125 crore Indians pledge to do this, the dream of a ‘New India’ can be achieved.

Citizens are invited to suggest ways for encouraging and motivating the masses to avoid the usage of Petrol/Diesel for one day, every week.

Throughout the country, there should be cycle tracks not necessarily along the highways but in a shortcut path to various destinations from villages to villages, outskirts of cities to cities and within urban areas. These cycle tracks can also serve as pedestrian paths. These tracks should be shaded by tall trees. People will prefer these cycle tracks to the highways. These tracks can get connected to the highways and railway stations for mobility by powered transportation.

#PCRA #MPNG #MyGov #GovernmentofIndia should provide passes for public transport and railways to its field officers and staffs(as- Police, administrative, Technical staffs,school-college faculties etc) so they can avoid frequent use of their private or Government allotted vehicles(four or 2 wheelers) for office work and site visiting and could go through the public transport or Railways in appropriate budget. It will surely save the fuel.

Provide subsidies on cycles for school children, organised sector employes and recognise people who come on cycle for 15 working days/month and provide encouragement coupons that can be redeemed in public transprt services so that money spent on fuel can be reduced and also people are encouraged to use public transport. One more alternative is to use the technology of GPS for cycles and calculate the distance traveled and whoever crosses min distance limit provide coupons as in the above case

The initiative to control the usage of petrol and diesel is really appreciable and it would help to decrease the amount of damage caused by us.The petrol reserves are being over exploited and it would have adverse effects on future generations if such a high rate of consumption is carried on.In Hindu religion one day fast once a week is suggested, fasting helps us cleanse the toxics gathered in our digestive system; similarly one day free from fuel would help to remove toxics from our ecosystem.

"Be the change that you want to see" - MG 1. Evangelize the use of public transport 2. Evangelize the use of bicycle How to do it? All MPs & MLAs can choose to travel to parliament & assembly 1. using public transport instead of car 2. using bicycle instead of car Just doing it for a day and giving a press release will not suffice. Walk the Talk. Lead from Front. Have Say-Do attitude. When the country witnesses it, there can be no better influence for public to follow it.
