During the year 2015-16, India spent Rs.4.82 lakh crores on imports to fulfill domestic demand. To reduce the import burden, and also to work towards to a greener environment, it is proposed to avoid usage of Petrol/Diesel for one day in a week.

Our Hon’ble Prime Minister has urged all citizens to avoid usage of Petrol/Diesel for one day in a week. He has said that if 125 crore Indians pledge to do this, the dream of a ‘New India’ can be achieved.

Citizens are invited to suggest ways for encouraging and motivating the masses to avoid the usage of Petrol/Diesel for one day, every week.

In Mumbai still there is no metro rail in western side which is causing huge traffic. This should have been built 10 years back. Lack of vision in estimating the traffic is causing the problem to commuters. Atleast now identify the fastest growing cities and start building metros to avoid problem in future and reduce fuel consumption. Introduce traffic signals with time display so that people can stop their vehicles for sometime.

If somebody needs to avoid using personal vehicle then he/she need alternate option to travel to his/her workplace. So providing this facilities should be the priority of Government. Encourage more share autos or taxis to public transport areas like railway/metro stations. Build more parking places at stations. This can be multi level paid parking. If possible provide AC trains on local routes. Some people are willing to pay more money but comfort is their priority.

Commuting to office or some personal work somewhere lead people to use vehicle. 1) Advising many organization to promote "WORK From HOME" option. 2) Making online availability of many personal work (especially work in Govt offices) or starting common office for many facilities in different localities (eg BangaloreOne in Bangalore)

Central and state governments should provide more and more mass transport systems so that the people avoid using petrol/diesel personally for one day in a week. Also should encourage solar run transport systems to the maximum possible extent.

Yes. It very good to avoid usage of Petrol/ Diesel for one day every week. All should take a decision themselves and see that they do not use any fossil fuel carriages one day a week. NGOs can actively involve in propagating this idea among the people. eg. CISSA, a NGO in Thruvananthapuram can be requested to take up the subject for campaign.

inculcate the idea of abolition of vehicle usage and encourage the cycling, walking & public transport in the syllabus of schools.govt should instruct the authors of schools and college to draft the chapters in such a way that they mention the ideology of sustainable development.our newer generation has to be well educated in a right direction & not in a way we all had learned just for degree, money, job&luxury.replacing photographs of politicians on the road side flex and hoardings wid futureIndia

its very difficult action but my suggestion is that if we stop the purchasing new car and vehicles because reason is that our cities more people has personal vehicles and they use it personally and (one person in car, three seats are free but vehicle consumption same if four people travel) simply we start car pooling and basically our minister travel with almost two security vehicles only. benefits of car pooling 1.traffic control 2.poor people earn money and black money stop.
