The role of institutions of higher education in societal development is becoming increasing significant. In recent years, higher education has isolated itself from the society and there is a need to re-establish and strengthen higher education’s close linkages with the society. How can Universities foster social responsibility and engage in community outreach programmes. Sharing some working examples would also be a useful input.

Special 6/7year courses instead of 5 years for medical students for rural specific medical colleges. Advantage in shape of Extra weightage in marks should be an incentive for admission to graduate /post graduate courses with compensation in shape of attractive subsidised fees. Extra weightage should also be given to youth who commit a certain minimum time period for sake of nation building either through defence services or the sectors as identified by the ministry.

There have been a systematic approach by certain vested interest in the Govt. in last 50 years to di-link society with Higher education. Leading to 1. Brain Drain of Scholars 2. Creating Human resource who are good worker not leader. India is complex society with large young pool employed in service sector which is very volatile,Honorable Prime Minister Modiji my request to your offices is to do a need assessment of our society in a time frame to asses what society needs ?NewCourse/newcirculam

certain number of hours of social service should be made compulsory for students. This promotes social interaction, empathy and is an excellent way to inculcate values.

I wanna work in bank at this age of 35 yrs of mine. I wanna do some course to get a training in banking but there's no institute in this country which can help me out in this as there're age barriers. i request HRD ministry to look into this and help reduce the unemployment of not only lower aged unemployables but help all as we too are citizens of this country.

I suggest to keep Civics OR Civilized life a compulsory subject through out India right from first standard till higher education. Even though we claim we have huge cultural heritage, when we come on street we forget culture about which we talk. My suggestion is whether it is Engineering,Medicine,Or any other profession, there has to be a subject of Civic sense & every individual has to clear it. If he does not clear it,he will not be given the degree Or Post degree certificate.
