Teachers already use both MOOCs and open courseware as supplemental material. However, these must be mediated through the teacher, and the choice of which or how many are to be used are her prerogative alone. Replacement of teachers by MOOCs is not welcome at all as it promotes technology-enabled teacher-centred education that pays no attention to the learner's needs and experiences. It also kills the opportunity of face to face interaction and critical enquiry with the students.

Practical based courses like B Ed should not be available through open learning.

These are supplements to the main teaching through classroom. These by themselves cannot replace the physical classroom space which enables both inquiry and interaction(teacher and student and between students). This is the initial ground, where critical thinking should be enabled and encouraged. An online, distance learning system may also do not cater to needs of weak or disadvantaged learners.

While online courses and other technical aids can have their uses in certain contexts, they cannot and MUST NOT become substitutes for direct student-teacher interface and the dynamic learning environment of a class room.

Technological aids should not become substitutes for direct student-teacher interaction in the class room.

It definitely helps those who cannot afford to come to school.
