the current accreditation systems, while trying to prevent misuse by many vested interests in educational system also inadvertently impedes the creation, operation and elevation of institutions aspiring for excellence in the global arena, which will require innovative mechanisms which may not fit into our normal quality accreditation standards.

Having said this, if our focus were to get institutions in the top global ranking, then we should allow more ways in our system for easy creation and operation of few institutions (public and private) that can claim exception from the current accreditation systems

The current accreditation systems of our country have been designed with significant insight, keeping in mind the statistical normal quality parameters that would apply for majority (quantity) of the institutions. One would see that in most instants where it has not appropriately reflected the quality standard, it is more owing to problems of audit / implementation and less because of the design of the accreditation standard.

Also Fee structure should be managed upon that and should have regulatory control on fee structure .Any increase should be approved by Regulatory authorities. Also there should be frequent audits towards the management of standards by schools set by Regulatory authorities.

Accreditation for higher/professional colleges should be mandatory. Through a transparent but strict system. Corruptions in Inspections should be cracked down, with strict punishments for the guilty. Bogus, fake colleges should be cracked down urgently. It should mandatory to display rank of the college/university. Govt should set up an official ranking system in the country

The Govt must target to get at least 5 of our Univs in the top 200 in the world by 2020. Special attention must be given to the highest ranking univ in India today, to develop them further. We should have regular, official ranking system for Univ in India, and the same should be given wide publicity. SO, also, we should have ranking system for institutions, overall, as well as within colleges of engin, pharmacy, etc. As well as within schools, higher secondary. Competitive atmosphere needed.

Private schools fees/syllabus/subjects details info is opaque. => Make public/private schools/colleges publish mandatory disclosures for bringing open-ness (like disclosures in finance industry) on their websites - 1) Must show annual fee structure with break up, 2) yearly revision in tabular format to review past-yearly fee hikes, 3) display class wise all subject-wise syllabus in details in pdf form + extra-curricular activities, etc This will help students/parents compare schools.
