The e-Committee, Supreme Court of India envisages a judicial system that is more accessible, efficient, and equitable for every individual who engages with the justice delivery system. The right of access to justice, guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution encompasses the right to access live court proceedings.

To imbue greater transparency, inclusivity and foster access to justice, the e-Committee has undertaken the project of live streaming of court proceedings on priority. This will enable access to live court proceedings, including on matters of public interest to citizens, journalists, civil society, academicians, and law students on a real-time basis, which was not otherwise possible owing to geographical, logistical, or infrastructural issues.

The e-Committee, Supreme Court of India invites inputs, feedback, and suggestions on the Draft Model Rules for Live-Streaming and Recording of Court Proceedings.

Click here to read the Draft Model Rules for Live-Streaming and Recording of Court Proceedings.

The last date to receive Suggestions/Inputs is 30th June 2021.

Streaming live on respective Doordarshan channel would be a great advantage to increase the popularity of the channel and contribute to our oldest Desi channel. It does not require huge internet package to view it on a internet platform. Even security aspects to be considered.

The Court Master/Reader, the draft rules, states will duly inform the parties before the commencement of the proceedings that they will be live-streamed and that objections, if any, should be articulated at that juncture to the concerned bench.

I am a student at ILS Law College, Pune. Firstly, I would like to thank the e-Committee, SC for giving the citizens an opportunity to get involved in this project through suggestions advancing the transparency and accountability associated with the court proceedings in India. Please find the PDF attached herewith containing my suggestions with regard to eliminating cyber security threats, certain restrictions required to be imposed , streaming of the proceedings, and deciding authority.
