Mangaluru traffic is very chaotic. Since the bus service here is mostly private, traffic noise is very high. Smart Mangaluru should have disciplined traffic and zero noise

My suggestions
1. Harness energy from road as traffic is on rise in Mangaluru.
2. Market areas set by MCC maintained at a high level of cleanliness with good parking and walking space.
3.Instead of having roadside vendors and food stalls we could have separate areas allocated for such stalls.
4.Properly maintained rest rooms at multiple locations.
5. Solar advertisement boards.
6. Multi story public parking
7. Mangaluru map app customized for our city

Beware of opportunistic politicians and officials planted by them for enforcement of the project. They may be eyeing their own benefit at the cost of the project without any responsibility for a successful end result. Compromise of the rules ‘for the sake of the people’ by the political leaders will be the foundation stone for the project’s failure. If fool proof laws are made only to follow and not to bend or break by the mighty, then Smart City will be a success.

• Installing sensors which monitor the levels of pollution, noise, traffic and parking
• Electronic cards (known as smart cards) possess a unique encrypted identifier that allows the owner to log in to a range of government provided services without setting up multiple accounts

• Smart traffic management where traffic is monitored in real time by the City and information about current travel time on certain roads is broadcast to allow motorists to determine the best routes to take
• Provide smart energy meters, with incentives provided to those that actively reduce energy consumption
• Flexible street lighting which allows municipalities to control the brightness of street lights
