The City “Mangaluru” in Karnataka has been selected as one of the Smart Cities to be developed under the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), Government of India's Smart City Mission. In order to participate in the 'City Challenge' proposal competition, Mangaluru is now required to formulate its own unique Vision and prepare the Smart City Plan in consultation with the citizens and other stakeholders.
Mangaluru City Corporation makes a Clarian call to Mangaluru’s responsible, right thinking and smart citizenry to post their valuable suggestions and recommendations to make Mangaluru a truly Smart Global City.
Your valuable suggestions would help Mangaluru to formulate a Smart City Vision, Goals and Strategy to achieve objectives.

The citizens are also requested to share their innovative and sustainable ideas and suggestions to develop Pan City Initiatives using Smart Solutions (using Information and Communication Technology) in areas of Core Infrastructure (as defined in the Smart City Mission Statement & Guidelines) and Area Based Developments to accelerate Economic Activities in the city.

Please provide your suggestions and feedback latest by 5th October 2015.

cameras and scanners a must in front of public toilets, malls, temples, auditorium, stadium, central market, and all highly populated areas

need subways or skywalk in all major roads fully equipped with security and CCTV cameras. no vendors are allowed inside subways or on skywalk.

there should be road safety group in all schools to ensure that all the children's are safe while crossing the roads, boarding the school bus etc

My views on Mangaluru as smart city 1.Prohibition of spitting in public places 2.Road and cleanliness are the first impression of city.I think road should be constructed by using geocells which give long life to road. 3.Produce electricity by garbage 4.Good rain water harvesting management 5.Improving waste management system 6.Streetlights can be of solar energy 7.Maintaining gardens,lakes and environment 8.Clean environment with no pollution 9.No plastic zone

1. The city should be provided with dedicated service ducts for drawing new Electrical/power lines, OFC, Telephone lines. 2. Construction of 2 or 3 satellite bus station outside the city on 3 main entry in to the city. 3. Dedicated vehicle parking lots particularly Multi storied parking bays at prime places. 4. Dedicated Bicycle lane all over the city to keep Mangaluru city clean and green.
