The City “Mangaluru” in Karnataka has been selected as one of the Smart Cities to be developed under the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), Government of India's Smart City Mission. In order to participate in the 'City Challenge' proposal competition, Mangaluru is now required to formulate its own unique Vision and prepare the Smart City Plan in consultation with the citizens and other stakeholders.
Mangaluru City Corporation makes a Clarian call to Mangaluru’s responsible, right thinking and smart citizenry to post their valuable suggestions and recommendations to make Mangaluru a truly Smart Global City.
Your valuable suggestions would help Mangaluru to formulate a Smart City Vision, Goals and Strategy to achieve objectives.

The citizens are also requested to share their innovative and sustainable ideas and suggestions to develop Pan City Initiatives using Smart Solutions (using Information and Communication Technology) in areas of Core Infrastructure (as defined in the Smart City Mission Statement & Guidelines) and Area Based Developments to accelerate Economic Activities in the city.

Please provide your suggestions and feedback latest by 5th October 2015.

1. There may also be a median strip, or road verge (a strip of vegetation, grass or bushes or trees or a combination of these) either between the pavement and the roadway or between the pavement and the boundary. 2. Children park must be built (access must be restricted only for Children with 2 adults max per child) 3. PPV model for organization to monitor and develop Public parks/ Tourist spots 4. Local trains to locations/suburbs with proximity of 60Kms must be initiated

1. Non-polluting vehicles must be only be allowed within City limits 2. Transport hubs must be created outside city limits for Commercial vehicles 3. Two-wheeler track (include cycle) must be earmarked on City roads 4. MCC must create outlets to rent Cycles and non-polluting vehicles 5. Tourism corridors must be identified (like Beach, Spiritual, Nature etc) 6. Pavements must be created on City roads with complete ban of vehicular movement or parking

1.Retain its old heritage.All buildings to be built shall have unique achitectural style. 2.We are strong in fields education,medicine,banking etc. Hence each of these fields to be developed in respective zones. There shall be affordable boarding/lodging facility available in each zone for outsiders seeking the services. 3.Adequate solid handling,drainage etc made.Drainage water shall be reusable after treatment for usages such as green belt etc. 4.Nuisance smell such as dry fish etc

1) Recognition of the City in Various Ways- Tourist Attraction, Gardens across city 2) Better Infrastructure through Road, Rail, Air, Water 3) Better Drain Facilities like Singapore 4) Rain Water Harvesting Target for all commercial buildings and new residential apartments, houses 5) Target for Solar plants to citizens. Mandatory Solar PV for common area lighting in apartments 6) Refined Education system which is practical 7) Easy Friendly infrastructure for Differentlyabled across city

2) Leak Proof Drains : Biggest problem of coastal city can be tackled proper drainage facility. This will be keep every Mangalorean healthy. There must be separate canals for rain water flow. Rain water joining the drain creating problems in rain season. Citizen of city should make sure that no waste thrown to drain. 3) Local train network connecting Nearby towns like Kasargod and Udupi to Mangalore so that the transport become effecient, no congestion.

Idea of Smart is excellent. This cannot be achieved only by Govt. Initiative from Govt. A movement from citizens can make a really smart city. 1) Wide Roads - Govt should widen all important roads and make traffic rules more stringent. Make every commercial building to provide their own parking space. No vehicles should be allowed to park in the road widened to movement of vehicles. Here is the Responsibility of citizens to follow the traffic rules, Builders earmarking space for visitor vehicle

Mangalore can be showcased as religious toursit hub.This can unlock immense potential and can be a revenue source for adminstration.some of the activities to be done as follows. 1. Mangalore spritual nirvana tour connecting all temples in the district aboard luxury buses 2. Luxurious hotels to be constructed in all religious tourist spot. 3. Mangalore should have one more vented dam cum bridge for vehicles on nethravathi river at kannur on NH48 to Bethania church road on the other side this could be helpful for water storage as city is growing .The bridge is useful as traveling to software park ,proposed ind estate university will be easier,Mangalore will have more area for devlopment
