Continuing from my last post ...
Smart City needs
“Smart People”,highly literate people.Great social capital to have.
Conglomeration of villages with just a short ride from the city
Melting pot of different cultures
Great healthcare establishments
Great educational institutions
Hands down Mangaluru beats hands down any other city in the list, not able to wrap my head around why Mangaluru was not picked as a model for smart city implementation ,

To have a nice Garden at old deer park construct visitors gallery from where visitors can have a view of the city.Enterence of Kadri Manjunatha temple to be made from deer park as there will be lot of parking space available presently lot of travellers, foreign visitors coming here when tourist ships arrive at Mangalore there's limited parking space and public facilities.

Abundance of resources
Water
Green Cover (rapidly decreasing)
Great Infrastructure

Mangalore should be promoted as the spiritual tourism destination. Combine this with yoga, health care, ayurveda, panchkrama etc.

Highway widening is already going on. Transport system should be improved. BRTS can be implemented. Uber like services can be implemented by the govt. All roads leading towards the sea fronts should be widened. All roads leading towards tourist places should be improved. Take some ideas from Kerala tourism department. Advertise brand Mangalore as the best place on earth to unwind / relax in the lap of nature. Industrial waste management should be controlled to ensure pollution free Mangalore.
