The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, ...

The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica.  Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP.  For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure   a higher percentage in the GDP.
 
Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower.  Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

natural resources without us using our forex reserves (or sacrificing our domestic interests) would be a good one. Maybe unrealistic but our Russia-Iran-India energy/agriculture trade deals are in the works and I'm very optimistic about them. Also, our strong stand on the WTO trade deal (nearly two years since signing) is a good example of us protecting our interests, and not signing the deal until we get what we want, which as State Secretary Kerry admits, is not unreasonable.

and as PM Modi is promoting, I'm sure Gov't could create regulations/ tax incentives to further utilize solar, hydro, and biofuel instead of further utilizing our domestic fossil fuel reserves? Perhaps the data/ cost figures don't support this but I don't know. If importing coal/uranium from Australia is cost effective for us domestically (which I would find surprising), that maybe a good way for us to use existing mining capacity while encouraging barter/trade??? Any policy that gets us....
