The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica.  Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP.  For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure   a higher percentage in the GDP.

Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower.  Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

coal mines may or may not be worth it but our Central Gov't would know better. At my same meet, my concerned person said that fossil fuel use would continue for the long term as alternative energy is apparently not cost efficient enough; I question this. We can always wait for solar cell material to be improved and more absorbing but I somethings think that we may be taking our fossil fuel resources and environment for granted? I don't have enough info to say if we do but if alternatives exist..

orders to share black money hoarders may or may not be an appropriate conflict to have as it causes us to question our Gov't branch's checks and balances' systems and the interests for which such tools are used. I would think that the same regulation structures that needed in other sectors to encourage increased private capital spending, would also be applicable in the mining/energy sector with increased emphasis on environmental concerns and protection. Tearing down forests to access....

ordering of Black Money account holders is an example of items that may or may not be appropriate. I don't know what the motivations were but I hope our Central Gov't checks and balances work correctly without improper interest uses. The worst thing that our country can't afford is wasteful spending of resources. If private business that obtained business licenses invested heavily for future revenue generation, to simply have such licenses revoked (and I don't know if they were compensated)....

Gov't does not risk its reputation or cause it to be questioned by the business community or be seen as unfair/corrupt etc. I'm all for providing preference/protection for our domestic interests but among domestic business interests, I hope our Gov't maintains its independence in regulation. I also hope that our Gov't branches don't step on each others toes; that also may take away our newly super ignited credibility. The recent conflicts between Swiss regulation and the Supreme Court's....

...I just hope that it is not at the expense of our current Administration's reputation nor powers. If foreign and domestic investors think that the Gov't can change its policy at any time after it has made it and capital has been deployed, that would considerably hinder additional investments in long term, capital intensive projects (alternative energy, infrastructure etc). I don't know enough about the Supreme Court's decision to auction the licenses but I just hope that our awesome central...

This is a topic I know very little about if anything. But I recently attended a meet where a concerned citizen was worried about the Supreme Court's relatively recent decision to auction coal mining licenses that were historically already allocated, and where those firms invested significant capital outlays for future mining. While the current Administration is correct to increase competition and encourage the private sector to participate in all critical aspects of our economy......
