The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica.  Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP.  For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure   a higher percentage in the GDP.

Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower.  Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

There is significant mineral potential that still lay untapped in India for the growth of mining but historically, mining sector has struggled to exploit the potential due to three big factors i.e. regulatory and administrative procedures, inadequate infrastructure facilities and sustainability. These challenges have limited the overall investment in mining and exploration activities in India, as evident from very low inflow of FDI in the mining sector.

I m from a small industrial town named sindri which was closed in 2003. but i m also an engineering student along with national awarded. i hv innovated lots of automated products and got the patent for the same. sir, i have a great idea to develop this town as super smart city in very cost effective manner. i can create the all the street lights automated here along with intelligent medical facility. it is not all but i can create here safe and clean environment with little training of citizens.
