The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica.  Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP.  For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure   a higher percentage in the GDP.

Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower.  Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

Mining has a massive impact on the Environment. 1) by excavation activity - on the earth's topography, ecology; and 2) on the health and safety of manpower - either involved in excavation or residing in that area. So strict policies for Environment, Health & Safety should be implemented - with repeated safety trainings. Safety procedures are not considered serious by Indian Entrepreneurs and contractors. Training for first aid and emergency evacuation compulsory for one and all at the site.

Use of Solar Power, Govt should come out with a plan to promote and educate people on Solar Energy. Govt. should educate the people how we can save electricity and how we can ensure 100% power all the time round the year. Govt can select a model block or area and share advantages with everyone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4CTceusK9I

Restructuring of FCI and other all government Departments needs to be fully Computerized and centralized so that transiency in the system will come and corruption will go away. Employees of FCI itself say that the FCI is the most corrupt org of India. so this label should go away first. also would like to suggest that in FCI must invest to prepare their own godowns and warehouses.
