Municipal Corporation of Madurai has received overwhelming response from its citizen in smart city suggestions and ideas to improve their city under Smart City Challenge.

On the basis of lakhs (both offline and online) of suggestions received from citizens of Madurai, the Draft Smart City Proposal is prepared for the City which encompasses different aspirations and dreams to be realized for the Madurai city.

The vision foresees Madurai city as the one which, along with fostering its distinctive heritage character, ensures the well-being of its citizens in a sustainable manner. The proposal is outlined along these lines.
We invite all citizens of Maduraito participate in this review process where you can give your comments and suggestions on Draft Smart City Proposal.

1) 15 years back, in and around Madurai city a number of Spinning Mills exists. People get job there and life was okay. But now no industrial growth, no employment opportunity because of that people moved to chennai and other places. Smart city should create more industries and provide employment opportunities. 2) Need to keep dust bin in all the public places. 3) Each petty shop should keep dust bin to collect their wastes 4) Driving license process should be strict. 2)

LET'S MAKE MADURAI A SMART CITY 1) Marriage and Political banners must be banned,it makes our city look like a village. 2) Public toilets needs to be cleaned up and maintained regularly, it stinks a lot. 3) Trees have to be planted on the roadside. 4) The river VAIGAI needs to be cleaned up,its dumped with wastes. 5) New roads can be constructed in such a way for easy drainage of rain water.
