Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has said India’s G20 agenda will be inclusive, ambitious, action-oriented, and decisive, establishing a presidency of healing, harmony, and hope.

Automation and ground-breaking technological advancements are fundamentally changing the nature of work in more than one way. Trends such as demographic transitions and technological changes such as Industry 4.0, Web 3.0, and extended reality technology bring immense possibilities that will forever change lives. This would imply significant workplace transformations and changes in the future of work that would be beyond human imagination. And to thrive in this new ‘World of Work,’ it is vital that skilling stakeholders comprehend these new trends and capacitate the existing education and skilling ecosystems.

Therefore, basis the announcements made in the ongoing discussions in the G20 Education Working Group 2023, the key takeaways about the future of the work are as follows and we seek ideas and suggestions from the public and other stakeholders on the same:

• The G20 Education Working Group has deliberated on pathways to make technology-enabled learning more inclusive, qualitative, and collaborative at every level.
• With the rise of automation across industries, it is imperative to mainstream foundational skills into the curriculum framework and facilitate dynamic learning over the life cycle to not only effectively measure the learning outcomes but also ensure people keep pace with the current factors of change. Education stakeholders must collaborate and focus on strengthening the foundational learning framework by leveraging technology and blended learning to ensure that students are equipped with the necessities for the future.
• The future of work is driven by the rising awareness of decarbonization and building a sustainable business, and the G20 countries recognise the importance of collective action in tackling environmental challenges as well as promoting transitions towards more flexible, transparent, and cleaner energy systems.

Aatmanirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana (ABRY) has been launched with effect from 1st October, 2020 as part of Atmanirbhar Bharat package 3.0 to incentivize employers for creation of new employment along with social security benefits and restoration of loss of employment during Covid-19 pandemic. This scheme being implemented through the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), seeks to reduce the financial burden of the employers and encourages them to hire more workers. The terminal date for registration of beneficiaries has been extended from 30.06.2021 to 31.03.2022. Benefits have been provided to 50.81 lakh beneficiaries through 1.33 lakh establishments till 28.02.2022.

Employment generation coupled with improving employability is the priority of the Government. Accordingly, the Government of India has taken various steps for generating employment in the country. The Government of India has announced Aatmanirbhar Bharat package to provide stimulus to business and to mitigate the adverse impact of Covid 19. Under this package, the Government is providing fiscal stimulus of more than Rs. Twenty Seven lakh crore. This package comprises of various long term schemes/ programmes/ policies for making the country self-reliant and to create employment opportunities.

Practice makes a man perfect. But once the perfection is achieved in one skill, it is the need of time to acquire another skill. Professionals can not remain relevant with repetitive use of a particular skill in isolation. Market demand for particular product changes with changing times and changes in lifestyle. Marketing techniques are changing. If the producers do not learn about new marketing techniques, they would not be able to sell their products and expand the market. New production methodologies about cost, quality, safety and delivery of products and services shall be acquired and implemented at work place

Many teachers are not able to explain subject to students despite having good knowledge and make subject boring On the other hand some teachers explain well and create interest amongst students even for a tough subject. So, teachers training and upskilling is required to be given priority under New Education Policy. It shall not be just a formality on papers. The methodology and curriculum shall be prepared for different subjects and trainers shall be selected and trained carefully for at least following: 1. Upgrading educational qualifications or skills. A good teacher has to be a good learner. 2. Communication skill 3. Connect with students. 4. Behavioral ethics 5. Maintaining a balanced speed of course coverage. It shall not happen that some topics are given too much time and some topics are just touched 6. Revisions and reviews of subjects. 7. Making students aware about prevailing trends in industries and make them future ready.

There is no connect with students and teachers of technical institutes with industries. Students do not get feel of industries during education. Teachers also have no experience of working in industry. As nursing colleges and medical colleges are attached to hospitals, engineering colleges and other technical training institutes shall be attached to industries around. Students and teachers shall be taken to factories and some senior technical person of industry shall explain the working of machines and making of the products. This will generate interest about manufacturing industries amongst students and enhance the learning.

Automation is need of industry to: 1) Maintain consistency in 'Quality' as quality is operator dependent. 2) Increase production volumes as speed of human body movement has a limit. 3) Increasing complexities as products are becoming smaller and more compact, it is difficult to manually assemble small parts. Automation has created more opportunities for employment generation. Skilled persons are required for 'Trouble Shooting', for 'Maintenance and Service' and for 'Making Automatic Machines'. Next generation skilling shall include Robotics, CNCs, PLCs. Different makers have different programming languages but it may be noted that basic philosophy is similar for controls of all makes. Students shall be trained in such a way that they can adust themselves with any make of control with minimal efforts.

India is the largest tertiary sector in the world we are the nation which will accomplished the highest number of population. In form of labour and workforce we see rapid increase of work enforcement But when it comes to soft skills if we check on the most developed countries one of their rapid expansion in finance sector has been their expertise in soft skills . what i want to address here is our country needs more people who have soft skills to innovate their ideas . we have number of other recruitment schemes for armies . why not target to recruit people in soft skills centres . our country will see rapid progress if we are able to analyse this change.
