This suggestion proposes making India’s Union Budget sustainable by shifting focus from short-term deficit management to long-term fiscal, economic, environmental, and social sustainability. It argues that large expenditures such as defence, subsidies, energy, and infrastructure should not be reduced, but made more efficient, coordinated, and partially self-financing over time. To achieve this, it recommends creating a dedicated Sustainability Department / Statutory Authority, integrated with State Governments (on the lines of the GST Council). This body would assess long-term fiscal impact, optimise lifecycle costs, reduce duplication across ministries, and ensure that major policies create assets rather than recurring liabilities. Practical examples include common defence platforms, targeted subsidies via DBT, infrastructure monetisation, renewable energy expansion, and performance-linked grants to states. Detailed explanation and examples are provided in the attached document

Respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji Respected Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman ji, I am writing as a concerned Indian citizen and a resident of West Bengal to share a few important suggestions for India’s future growth. India should increase funding for ISRO to strengthen space research, satellite technology, and global competitiveness. Similarly, DRDO and Military R&D funding must be enhanced to build strong indigenous defense technologies and ensure long-term national security. Education also needs urgent reform. India requires an education system at European or Chinese standards, with strong focus on practical-based learning, research, innovation, and industry exposure. Education should prepare students for real-world skills, not only exams. Most importantly, we need to create well-paid private-sector and industry-based jobs, beyond government employment. Self-Funding Urban Infrastructure Engine: Budget can make all Data Centers (DCs) to treat municipal sewage with near zero liquid discharge, and use it for their massive cooling water needs. Instead of straining good water, this policy transforms DCs into anchor customers for municipal STP discharge, creating immediate, non-tax revenue for local bodies. This "Free Infrastructure" model forces high-tech giants to fund the setup of advanced water treatment and piping networks, essentially privatizing the cost of urban water rejuvenation. This won’t be a significant strain on the DCs, yet we provide municipalities with fiscal autonomy to build world-class utilities while ensuring digital growth never compromises national water security. This is a definitive strategy for Viksit Bharat to lead the global AI race through sustainable, circular economy. Details explained in my article. https://www.pgurus.com/water-guzzling-ai-and-data-centres-an-opportunity-for-funds-starved-municipalities/

My recommendation for the Union Budget 2026–27 is to formulate a clear, balanced, and pragmatic policy for the crypto and blockchain sectors. The current 30% tax and 1% TDS are a barrier for small investors and startups, and they should be rationalized. Cryptocurrency should receive a clear definition of digital assets and allow for the set-off of losses against profits. This will spur innovation, create jobs, and position India as a leader in the digital economy.

Esteemed Finance Minister, as India approaches the Union Budget for 2026-27, we advocate for a strategic pivot from an allocation-centric approach to one that prioritizes the well-being and professional development of our educators. This shift is paramount for effectively implementing the National Education Policy and realizing the vision of a Developed India by 2047.

Universal Family Entrepreneurship Scheme to Create new Jobs: To future-proof India against AI-driven job displacement, aggressive global tariffs, and private investment stagnation, the Budget can facilitate job-creation by fostering an entrepreneur in every family. This will bridge gender employment gap by empowering women through home-based and local micro-enterprises, creating a decentralized economic bulwark. By providing targeted credit lines, simplified regulatory compliance for family units, and digital scaling toolkits, the govt can transform potential unemployment into a grassroots manufacturing & services revolution. This will stimulate domestic demand, insulate the economy from external tariff shocks, and ensure equitable wealth distribution. Transitioning families from passive welfare recipients to active economic engines is the most viable path to achieving a resilient $5 trillion economy. Details explained in my article: https://www.pgurus.com/entrepreneur-every-family/ .
