Establish an on-site facility to convert discarded offerings and flowers into organic compost or hand-rolled incense (agarbatti)and Set up clearly marked drop-off zones for distinct waste categories (biodegradables, glass, plastic, and metals) with trained personnel to guide devotees.Mandate the use of biodegradable, compostable tableware—such as pattal (leaf plates) or bagasse—and strictly ban single-use plastics and thermocol.Set up large water dispensing stations to encourage pilgrims to refill their personal bottles instead of purchasing single-use plastic water bottles.

Title: Sacred Offerings to Sustainable Resources
Objective
To make Mahashivratri celebrations eco-friendly by reducing waste, eliminating plastic, and transforming temple offerings into useful resources.
Idea
Set up Sacred Collection Points across the temple premises where devotees can deposit flowers, garlands, and other biodegradable offerings. These materials will be converted into organic compost, seed balls, and eco-friendly products through local Self-Help Groups.
Prasad should be distributed in biodegradable leaf bowls and paper packaging instead of plastic. Volunteers can guide devotees in waste segregation and promote zero-waste practices.
Impact
Reduces waste and plastic pollution.
Converts devotional offerings into valuable resources.
Supports local livelihoods and environmental conservation.
Creates a replicable model for sustainable religious gatherings across India.

1. Infrastructure & Plastic AlternativesMandate a strict ban on plastic packaging. All vendors must use Donas (sal-leaf bowls) for prasadam and Kulhads (clay cups) for liquids. Establish youth-managed "Water ATMs" across the venue to encourage pilgrims to refill reusable stainless-steel or copper bottles, eliminating single-use plastic water bottles entirely.2. Tech-Driven Behavioral ChangeAt entry checkpoints, pilgrims receive a biodegradable paper wristband featuring a unique QR code. Smart waste hubs, managed by local youth and NCC volunteers, will be placed every 100 meters. When a pilgrim disposes of segregated organic and dry waste correctly, volunteers scan their QR code to award "Punya Points" via a simple centralized web application.3. Rewards and IncentivesAccumulated points can be redeemed immediately on-ground for practical benefits:Priority fast-track entry for the main temple darshan.Eco-friendly souvenirs like Tulsi saplings or clay diyas.Digital certificates recognizing
